Japanese authorities detain Paris Hilton at airport

Postby gwen » Tue Sep 21, 2010 4:06 pm

(Reuters) - Celebrity socialite Paris Hilton was held for questioning by officials at Tokyo airport on Tuesday where she had flown for business one day after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine in Las Vegas.

Immigration officials at the Narita International Airport detained Hilton for hours after her chartered plane landed there, and then asked Hilton to stay overnight at an airport hotel for more questioning on Wednesday before allowing her to enter the country, according to Japanese media reports.

"Paris Hilton was delayed by immigration authorities at a Japanese airport this evening after arriving for business obligations planned many months earlier," Hilton's Los Angeles-based spokeswoman said in a statement.

"Paris was contractually bound to her business trip and didn't want to let down her brands and many Asian fans. She intended on fulfilling her contract and is trying hard to do the responsible thing, but this is beyond her control," the statement said, adding Hilton was "very disappointed."

On Monday in Las Vegas, Hilton pleaded guilty to cocaine possession following a recent arrest in which she was found to have 0.8 grams of the drug in a purse. She was given a one-year suspended sentence, fined $2000 and ordered to complete community service.

The 29 year-old former star of reality TV show "The Simple Life" is a member of the family that founded the Hilton hotel chain, and she has parlayed her notoriety into a successful career endorsing products in fashion, fragrances and other industries.

Hilton had been scheduled to appear at a fashion show on Wednesday in Tokyo's high-end Roppongi district that is filled with restaurants and nightclubs, but the show was canceled.

Japan refuses to let Paris into country

After questioning socialite Paris Hilton for a second day, Japanese immigration authorities today denied the American heiress entry to the country.

The 29-year-old was widely expected to be refused entry as a result of her previous drug offenses in the U.S. -- something that would typically cause would-be visitors to be denied entry clearance to Japan, which has strict anti-drug regulations.

The 29-year-old hotel empire heiress flew into Tokyo's Narita International Airport from Las Vegas on Tuesday for a promotional event, just one day after pleading guilty to cocaine-related charges in Sin City for which she received a suspended one-year jail sentence, a $2,000 fine, 200 hours of community service and an order to complete a rehab program.

But after learning that she would not be allowed to enter the country, she prepared to return to the U.S.

"About to take off. Going home now. So dissappointed to miss my fans in Asia. I promise to come back soon. I love you all! Love Paris xoxo," she tweeted.

Hilton, whose fame is due both to her famous family and the release of a sex tape by a former lover in 2003, was due to appear with her 26-year-old sister Nicky Hilton at the start of an Asian tour to promote her new fashion range.

Earlier this year, Paris Hilton was arrested in South Africa after the Brazil-Netherlands World Cup soccer game on suspicion of possession of marijuana, but the case was dropped. In 2007, she spent 23 days in a Los Angeles county jail for violating probation over an alcohol-related reckless driving conviction.

To add insult to injury, Hilton was forced to stay in an economy hotel where the rooms were around $60 per night. It wasn't reported in the British tabloid whether or not the $60 per night accommodation included bed bugs that have been so prevalent in the recent organized media's never ending dedication of resources and coverage of Hollywood elitists, their trials and tribulations.

Lindsay Lohan Back In Jail After Failing Drug Test
Judge denied actress bail before she was handcuffed in court and taken into custody.

Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan was back in court in Los Angeles on Friday (September 24) to face the music after admitting last week to failing a recent drug test. The judge in the case was clearly not happy about this latest setback.

According to TMZ, Judge Elden Fox did not hear any testimony from Lohan's lawyers before denying the 24-year-old "Mean Girls" star bail and ordering her to immediately report to jail. Lohan was reportedly handcuffed in court before being taken into custody, meaning she could be behind bars until the next hearing in the case, scheduled for October 22.

Wearing black sunglasses, a long black blazer over a high-waisted white skirt and black top and shiny stacked heels, Lohan breezed past the assembled paparazzi around 8 a.m. on Friday on her way into court, five days after Judge Fox revoked her probation and issued a bench warrant that would have been executed had Lohan failed to show up for the hearing.

Last weekend, Lohan admitted to failing her recent drug test, conceding that she was still struggling with addiction.

"Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result," Lohan tweeted late Friday night. "Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day. I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future. ... This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences."

TMZ ran earlier unconfirmed reports that Lohan actually failed two drug tests. One was for cocaine, which appears to be the incident Lohan was referring to in her tweet, while another was for amphetamines that could be related to the prescription ADHD drug she takes, Adderall, which is a stimulant. The site reported that the Probation Department was not expected to recommend jail time for the second offense because of some questions over the paperwork in that incident.

According to the conditions of her post-rehab release, Judge Fox could send Lohan back to jail for 30 days. Lohan served 13 days of a 90-day jail sentence in July over a probation violation from a pair of 2007 DUI cases; she subsequently spent 23 days in a rehab facility, serving less than one third of her 90-day court-ordered sentence.

Lohan's lawyer has not returned requests for comment on the case.

Lindsay Lohan Will Bail Out of Jail

9/24/2010 5:45 PM PDT by TMZ Staff

UPDATE 6:02PM PDT: Lindsay will have to get a SCRAM bracelet (this will be her third) within 24 hours -- and under the terms of her bail, she is not allowed to be around known drug users ... and must submit to search by law enforcement at any time.

Also, nightclubs will be a major no-no ... Linds has to stay out of places where alcohol is the "chief item of sale."

Lindsay Lohan will be a free woman soon, because a judge has just reversed Judge Elden Fox's decision and has granted LiLo bail ... TMZ has learned.

Judge Fox ruled earlier today ... Lindsay could be held without bail. But apparently the Judge's ruling flies in the face of California law, which gives defendants the right to bail in misdemeanor cases.

Judge Patricia Schnegg, Assistant Supervising Judge for the L.A. County Criminal Courts, just threw Judge Fox's bail decision out the window. Judge Schnegg has set bail at $300,000.

Lindsay, who is in Lynwood Jail right now, should get out soon ... probably in a few hours.

Lohan charged to be charged with grand theft

AP Entertainment Writer

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Prosecutors said Tuesday they plan to charge Lindsay Lohan with felony grand theft of a $2,500 necklace reported stolen from a jewelry store last month.

District Attorney's spokeswoman Jane Robison said the charge will be filed Wednesday. She is due in court for an arraignment on Wednesday afternoon.

The charge brings the troubled star another step closer to jail. Lohan, 24, remains on probation for a 2007 drunken driving case and a judge had threatened to throw her in jail if she ran into trouble again.

Los Angeles police said Feb. 2 that Lohan was under investigation for taking a necklace from a Venice store later identified as Kamofie and Co. Detectives obtained a search warrant to try to retrieve the item from Lohan's home, but it was turned into a police station before any search was made.

Police said they had no update on the case Tuesday and did not say whether the actress had made arrangements to turn herself in at court or at a police station.

Robison said bail would be decided by a judge.

A phone message to Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, was not immediately returned. Holley has previously denied any wrongdoing by Lohan.

"We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press," Holley said in a statement released Saturday.

The new case represents the most serious charges the "Mean Girls" star has ever faced. Arrested twice in 2007, Lohan was charged with drunken driving and drug possession, but both were misdemeanors.

Prosecutors in Riverside County have been considering whether to press charges against Lohan for a December altercation with a worker from the Betty Ford Center, where she was being treated for drug addiction.

Crazy thing is, the owner of the necklace could have covered her sorry rear and simply accepted payment and a stipend for his troubles. Simply claimed it was a misunderstanding. Perhaps he's holding out for a bigger payoff?

I'll believe it when I see Lohan in a real prison. Elitists literally get away with murder.

Just like Charlie Sheen. How many times can his Mercedes be stolen and end up in the ditch and him not know the car was missing.

No Perp Walk For Lindsay Lohan

2/8/2011 2:30 PM PST by TMZ Staff

Lindsay Lohan will not be handcuffed and paraded in front of cameras Wednesday before her arraignment on felony grand theft charges ... sources connected with the case tell TMZ.

Our sources say there will be no "perp walk" -- which is when someone charged with a crime is arrested, cuffed and taken to the cop shop for all to see.

Instead, Lindsay, seen above leaving her probation officer this morning, will simply surrender to the court when she shows up for her arraignment tomorrow.

After Lindsay is arraigned, she will be taken to the basement of the courthouse where her booking photo will be taken ... then released after bail is posted.

Lindsay Lohan Accused of Burning Tanning Company

2/8/2011 1:38 PM PST by TMZ Staff

Lindsay Lohan is being sued by a mobile tanning company that claims they bronzed the actress up from 2007 to 2009 ... but she stiffed them on the $40k bill.

Lorit Simon claims Lohan hired her Nevada-based company, Tanning Vegas -- and the job required interstate travel when Lohan was craving a color change.

In the lawsuit filed last week in Nevada, Simon claims Lohan racked up $41,031.60 in unpaid charges -- and even now, she refuses to settle her debt.

Simon wants Lohan to fork over the money -- plus attorney's fees and interest.

Simon has sued Lindsay before -- accusing the actress of stealing her secret formula for a spray tanning product and selling it under her own Sevin Nyne label.

Judge CRUSHES Lohan -- 'Don't Push Your Luck!'

2/9/2011 2:07 PM PST by TMZ Staff

Lindsay Lohan was just remanded into custody -- following a STRONG warning from Judge Keith Schwartz -- "You're no different than anyone else ... please don't push your luck."

Moments after Lohan entered a not guilty plea in her felony theft case -- the judge came down on her like a ton of bricks ... telling her "things will be different" this time around because she's on the hook for a felony.

During the hearing, Judge Schwartz said Lindsay's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, and prosecutor Danette Meyers, were going to meet to possibly reach a plea bargain.

Lohan -- alongside attorney Holley -- was then remanded into custody ... and is currently being booked.

Judge Schwartz set her bail at $20,000 -- but warned, "If you violate the law, I will remand you and there will be NO BAIL."

The judge also revoked Lindsay's probation in the DUI case and set bail at $20,000 -- so total bail is $40,000.

Lohan was also ordered to refrain from contacting the jewelry store during the case, after Meyers said someone had sent the store owners flowers, which kind of freaked them out.

UPDATE 2:48 PM PT: Lindsay has posted bail.

(CBS) Mel Gibson is ready for his close-up.

The Oscar winner's booking photo, stemming from his misdemeanor battery conviction, was released on Thursday.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Gibson was photographed and fingerprinted at the El Segundo Police Department on Wednesday night. He arrived at the station at 9:30 p.m. and was released an hour later.

Gibson's booking record lists him as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds, according to the report.

The actor pleaded no contest on Friday to misdemeanor battery. The charge stemmed from a fight he had last year with then-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

He was sentenced to 36 months of probation and ordered to attend 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling.

A raging and shirtless Chris Brown stormed out of Good Morning America's Times Square studio Tuesday, a source confirms to PEOPLE.

"He was visibly upset and appeared livid after the interview," the source said, of Brown's being asked about his 2009 felony assault case involving his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

During an interview pegged to the release of his new album F.A.M.E., Brown, 22, told GMA anchor Robin Roberts, "It's not really a big deal to me now, as far as that situation. I think I'm past that in my life. Today's the album day, so that's what I'm focused on."

Yet when Roberts inquired of the legal issues still stemming from the case, Brown said, "This album is what I want people to hear and people to really get into, so definitely this album is what I want them to talk about and not stuff that happened two years ago."

After the interview, Brown performed a number, then, according to local affiliate WABC, went into his dressing room, and reportedly screamed and started to tear apart the room. Security reportedly was summoned.

Brown did not perform a second song, as had been scheduled. Instead, he ripped off his shirt – New York temperatures are in the mid-40s Tuesday – and left the building, says WABC.

Reps for Brown did not immediately return calls for comment.

A few hours after the incident, Roberts took to Twitter to comment: "Sure has been an interesting AM @GMA. Still sorting thru everything myself. Just my 2nd day on twitter, wonder what tomorrow will bring?”

Next week, Brown is slated to perform on ABC's Dancing with the Stars.

In December, Brown completed a year-long domestic violence program for his role in the case. He was previously sentenced to five years probation and 180 days of community service.

Soon after Tuesday's GMA incident, TMZ reported, Brown Tweeted (before later removing the message): "I'm so over people bringing this past s**t up!!! Yet we praise Charlie sheen and other celebs for there bulls**t."

He then added two other messages within one minute of each other. They were: "Thank you to everyone who supports my music!!! Key Word (music) !!! Love y'all," as well as, "All my fans!!! This album is for you and only you!!! I'm so tired of everyone else!! Honestly!! I love team breezy!!"

ABC News, in a statement, said of Tuesday's turn of events: "As always, we ask questions that are relevant and newsworthy, and that's what we did in this interview with Mr. Brown."

Lindsay Lohan jailed for violating probation

Image

[7:30 p.m. ET, 4:30 p.m. PT] Lindsay Lohan was ordered Friday to serve 120 days in jail for violating her probation by getting arrested on allegations of stealing a necklace from a store.

Lohan was immediately taken into custody.

Her lawyer immediately filed a notice of appeal, which allowed her to post bond since the case involves a misdemeanor violation.

The judge set her bond at $75,000, which she was expected to post Friday evening.

The same judge earlier reduced her felony theft charge to a misdemeanor.

[5:30 p.m. ET, 2:30 p.m. PT] The judge has ruled that the necklace theft case against Lindsay Lohan will go forward to trial, but with the felony charge reduced to a misdemeanor.

"I'm going to give her an opportunity," Judge Stephanie Sautner said.

Redmond O'Neal ordered to rehab in heroin case

CBS/AP) Troubles continue for the children of Ryan O'Neal.

Redmond O'Neal, son of Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett, pleaded no contest Wednesday to heroin possession and was ordered to spend the next year in an intense inpatient rehab program.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz also told Redmond O'Neal to serve five years on probation and gave him a three-year suspended prison sentence, which would be imposed only if the younger O'Neal gets into trouble again.

O'Neal, 26, also pleaded no contest to being a felon in possession of a firearm when he was arrested Aug. 2 after a traffic stop.

He entered the pleas without an agreement with prosecutors, district attorney's spokeswoman Jane Robison said.

"The defense team appreciates that Judge Schwartz gave Redmond the help that he needs to turn his life around," attorneys Richard Pintal and Michael Brewer said in a statement. "The court recognized that drug rehabilitation is the best thing for Redmond and society as a whole."

Pintal said his client will be required to remain in a lockdown rehab facility and is facing a tough fight to beat his heroin addiction.

"It's especially insidious in that it's intensely physically addictive and coming off of, or ceasing in any respect; causes incredible physical pain," Pintal said.

Ryan O'Neal attended his son's sentencing, which was first reported by celebrity website RadarOnline.com.

Redmond O'Neal has had a string of drug-related arrests over the years. He had to be released from jail briefly to attend his mother's funeral when she died in June 2009.

Judge revokes Lindsay Lohan's probation

By Derrik J. Lang
AP Entertainment Writer / October 19, 2011

LOS ANGELES—Lindsay Lohan sported a new accessory Wednesday after a judge revoked her probation: Handcuffs.

The actress was taken into custody after Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner revoked her probation because she was ousted from a community service assignment at a women's shelter.

"There has been violation after violation," Sautner said.

Bail was set at $100,000. Lohan's spokesman Steve Honig said it was immediately posted and the actress was later released from Airport Courthouse.

"We're dealing with someone on probation," said Lohan's attorney, Shawn Holley. "Most people on probation don't always do things perfectly."

A city prosecutor recommended jail time, but Sautner set a Nov. 2 hearing to decide whether Lohan should serve another stint behind bars, where she has been sent four previous times only to be released early due to jail overcrowding.

"If jail meant something in the state of California now, maybe I'd put her in jail," Sautner said.

The development marked the latest legal problem for the 25-year-old Lohan, who was given probation for a 2007 drunken driving case and a misdemeanor theft case this year.

"Lindsay is hoping this matter will be resolved on Nov. 2 and the court will reinstate probation and allow her to continue fulfilling her community service," Honig said.

Lohan had been ordered in April to serve 360 hours at the Downtown Women's Center, an agency that helps homeless women. Nine of Lohan's appointments at the center were "just blown off" and she "showed up once and left after an hour," Sautner said.

Lohan has since started serving hours with the American Red Cross, but Sautner said that would not count because it was not part of her sentence.

During the tense proceedings, Sautner hammered Lohan for failing to show up for her four-hour appointments at the women's center and for taking six months to complete a court-ordered Shoplifters Anonymous course. The judge also questioned how Lohan could have complied with her court-ordered weekly psychological counseling when she was traveling in Europe from Sept. 9 to Oct. 5.

"I don't know how she did that in person every week," said Sautner, who suggested Lohan complete a minimum of 16 hours of her community service at the county morgue before the Nov. 2 hearing, when Lohan's probation officer and other officials will testify about her efforts to complete her sentence.

Lohan, aside from a role in last year's film "Machete," has seen her acting career evaporate in recent years. She has been in perpetual trouble since May 2010.

Another judge determined she violated her probation in the drunken driving case and sentenced her to jail and rehab. She faltered after being released early from a rehab facility early and was sent to the Betty Ford Center, where she got in an altercation with a rehab worker who later sued.

Within weeks of her release from Betty Ford, Lohan was accused of taking a $2,500 necklace without permission from an upscale jewelry store near her home in the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Sautner determined the January incident constituted a probation violation, and Lohan was ordered to undergo psychological counseling and perform 480 hours of community service, with 120 hours to be spent at the morgue.

Lohan later pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge in the theft case and served 35 days of a four-month sentenced on house arrest

In Her Most Appropriate Court Outfit Yet La Li Lo Gets 30 Days

Image

Lindsay Lohan will serve 30 days in jail, and the judge is holding her on a tight leash to make sure she completes her probation.

Lindsay admitted she violated her probation by not attending therapy sessions as required by the court and by getting kicked out of the Downtown Women's Center.

The judge now says ALL of Lindsay's community service must now be served at the L.A. County Morgue. And the judge gave Lindsay a tight structure on how she must complete the rest of her probation, and if she doesn't the judge will put a warrant out for her arrest and sentence her to an additional 270 days in jail.

As for the 30 days Lindsay is getting now -- the judge made it clear ... NO HOUSE ARREST.

The Sheriff's Dept. tells us Lindsay will serve 20% of the 30 days -- 6 days in jail.

Judge Stephanie Sautner gave Lindsay a strict schedule on completing the rest of her probation -- by December 14, she must have completed 12 days at the morgue and 4 psychotherapy sessions. By January 17, another 12 days at morgue and 4 psychotherapy sessions. And so on. Everything must be completed by March 29 -- or she goes directly to jail for 270 days.

The judge clearly thinks Lindsay needs a rigid structure to complete her sentence, and as the judge put it, Lindsay is holding the keys to the jail cell.

And the judge strongly suggested Lindsay stop tweeting about her experiences at the morgue.

At the end, Lindsay seemed happy, walking out of court saying, "Thank God," under her breath.

Sources in the courtroom tell us that when the judge got off the bench she remarked about Lindsay, "She looks good today."

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry have reached a truce over the violent turkey-day tussle at the Oscar winner’s mansion.
“The parties have reached an amicable agreement. There will be no further statements regarding this matter,” Berry lawyer Blair Berk told the Daily News Thursday.

She said the cease-fire statement was joined by Aubry’s criminal lawyer Shawn Holley.

Both sides were in a Los Angeles courtroom Thursday to discuss the settlement with the family court judge overseeing the paternity case for Berry’s 4-year-old daughter with Aubry.

It’s still not clear if authorities will pursue a criminal case against Aubry.

He was taken into custody Thanksgiving morning on suspicion of misdemeanor battery after a fight with Berry’s fiancé Olivier Martinez.

Police said Berry called cops to report someone assaulting her boyfriend and that Martinez made a citizen’s arrest of Aubry.

A law enforcement source said Martinez claimed Aubry started the brawl by shoving him and throwing a punch at his face that missed and hit his shoulder.

Aubry, a Calvin Klein model, later claimed Martinez violently attacked him without provocation and threatened to kill him.

Multiple sources told the Daily News it’s highly probably the case will disappear because Aubry has no history of violent crime and barely touched Martinez.

Instead, Aubry ended up with a broken rib and a smashed face with one eye swollen shut and a deep cut that required stitches.
