24 year old woman kidnapped on Bonaire
KRALENDIJK – The police has put in a large scale search party to find the missing 24 year old Marlies Elizabeth van der Kouwe. On the night of Saturday to Sunday at two thirty she was pulled off her bicycle by a man on a dark-colored two-wheeled vehicle.
The man, between 1.70 and 1.80 meters long, was dressed in dark-colored clothing and was wearing a jacket. This took place on the Boulevard Gobernador N. Debrot in the neighbourhood of the WEB-factory. The vehicle left off eastwards.
Lieutenant Governor Herbert Domacassé and Officer of Justice David van Delft held a press conference about the kidnapping yesterday. They asked the coast guard of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba to help them in their search who have already put in a plane. The plane scanned the area on Monday evening and Tuesday before sunrise. According to Chief of Police Schagen , the RST of the Netherlands Antilles has been pulled in for the investigation. Yesterday evening the officers of the RST arrived on Bonaire to start working on it immediately. “Our first priority is to find her back. We are still hopeful that she is still alive. We’re handling this as a serious crime”, says the police chief.
“The search and the investigation will continue today”, says Schagen. Van der Kouwe was born in Curaçao on the 11th of May 1984. She is 1.63 meters tall and has blue eyes and blond hair. Last night her parents living in the Netherlands were informed.
Police have started a big search for 24-year-old Marlies Elizabeth van der Kouwe. She was pulled from her bike at 2:30 AM Saturday night/Sunday morning by a man who took her away on a dark colored motorcycle
The man was wearing dark clothes and was between 170cm and 180cm tall. This happened on Kaya Gobernador Debrot by the WEB installation. He disappeared to the east.
Police Chief John Schagen said this in a Monday evening press conference with Governor Herbert Domacasse and Justice officer David van Delft.
The search is being assisted by the Netherlands Antilles Coast Guard, who are providing aircraft to assist in the search. The plane flew search missions Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
Schagen has enlisted the help of the Netherlands Antilles RST (not sure ... I think that's a search and rescue team). "The team will search the whole day through", he said.
Van der Kouwe was born in Curacao in 1984. She is 5'4", blonde, with blue eyes. Her parents were informed yesterday evening (Netherlands time).
Anyone that saw anything should call 717-8555 or 911.

The adjournment will have taken place because of serious suspicion of involvement of the Kralendijker at the disappearance of Marlies of of the Kouwe. The young woman disappeared in the night of Saturday on Sunday on Bonaire after a party.

Bartender Mike Voorthuizen :: "Police did the first 24 hours nothing '
About the arrested R.P. he says to know that 'a sick man. " 'It's a crazy, a rapist a fool. He sometimes kidnapped women to abuse them for days.
By PETER DE KNEGT
KRALENDIJK - With four waved them Marlies van der Kouw last weekend in the night from Saturday to Sunday around 01.00 hours from when she stepped on her bike and direction peddelde house.
Mike Voorthuizen, bartender of Karel's Beach Bar, remember well.
,, The twin sisters, Cesar and me. Marlies did not want to be away. The next morning we have breakfast together and swim.''
Marlies but did not show. Her bike ride to her house in the 'better' residential Hato ended when she around half past one at the Water and Electricity Bonaire (WEB) was pulled from her bicycle and dragged along on a scooter. Two security guards saw it happen from behind the high fence and could do nothing else than the warning line call.
As soon as the police spot was so little happened afterwards. Although a bike and toe slippers were found, the police saw no great alarm to save. ,, Not even when we are on Sunday when police aanklopten,''recalls the bartender itself. ,, The first 24 hours they did nothing.''
Mike is furious at the lax attitude of the police. ,, First they wanted to know nothing and now suddenly we perform to behind each other for hours by sawn to be. I have now for the third time and my friend Cesar has also been interrogated for three hours.''
Mike has just as the other islanders no idea what may have happened with the Marlies. Certainly not now the messages overlapping tumble that there is possibly a mistaken identity. Not Marlies van der Kouw would have been the intended victim, but also the blond 17-year-old daughter of the resident on the island of Dutchman Wout Kouwen.
The similarity of name and appearance would have led to the Thursday arrested suspect R. P., which was igehuurd Islanders by the Yugoslav mafia, the 'wrong' has caught. P. It took eight years just to sit in cell Bon Futuro on Curaçao and was a few months since Friday.
,, For ten thousand Antillean guilders funny things people can do,''says Wout of Kouwen. He received a bizarre phone call Tuesday that the possible kidnapper of Marlies van der Kouw half million ransom demanded for the release of the Dutch. 'The man on the phone told my daughter that he had, but they are not.''
How seriously the call should be taken is unclear. Certainly this week because another daughter of Van Kouw, the 8-year-old Bo, was almost kidnapped by a local junk. By brave action of the girl and a good description of the offender could soon be caught.
Or the junk and late Thursday arrested R. P. knew each other and worked together for perhaps the family to take Kouwen to graze, must show.
According to police Johan Schagen is' nothing out and everything included in the investigation. " An investigation that is largely happening in the (rough) nature of Bonaire.
,, And with man power, help from the Rangers of Stinapa, ships and aircraft, we continue to search,''stresses Schagen. ,, But the extent and nature of nature is such that you are not in a few days the whole island have combed out.''
Bonaire is inhospitable, with lots of hiding places that are not always accessible. So are located in the north of the island alone, where over 150 caves hidden Marlies could sit.
A ray of hope is perhaps the discovery of the muddy scooter of the arrested P. Perhaps the employees flew from the Netherlands on the Dutch Forensic Institute found traces which may explain a link with Marlies. Her parents now waiting in great tension in the Plaza Hotel. Remarkable coincidence: P. was at the time of his arrest on his way to work in the same Plaza Hotel.
About the arrested R.P. he says to know that 'a sick man. " 'It's a crazy, a rapist a fool. He sometimes kidnapped women to abuse them for days. Even in prison he has fitted women are rape.''[img][/img][img][/img]

The newly appointed Police Chief John Schagen under great pressure
Police ignore geldeis kidnapped Marlies
by John van den Heuvel and Bert Houses
KRALENDIJK (Bonaire) - The police on Friday Bonaire has failed to make the declaration to tow a possible interesting witness in the investigation into the abduction of Marlies van der Kouw.
The Marlies van der Kouw disappeared.
Former Prosecutor witness Wout of Kouwen was not approached about a half of geldeis million he received Tuesday. "None of the police in touch with me," says Van Kouw, which is accessible to multiple phone numbers.
The newly appointed chief John Schagen is now under great pressure, it is clear.
After the blunders of the police in the first two days, had to admit Schagen Friday that his detectives had no contact with the witness Van Kouwen. Initially he tried to cover up, by saying that "the family" was approached.
He said Schagen inquiry had to do with the wife of Van Kouw, who knew nothing of. "No, I have my girlfriend here do not have been," says Van Kouwen. "I thought, this is even sick joke, then I did not worry." Thursday followed an attempted abduction of his daughter Bo. From Kouwen repeated yesterday that Tuesday called for money.
Whether the police still take into account a broad scenario, in order to avoid tunnel vision, would not say chief John Schagen.
He maintains that there never has been a geldeis. Four days after the messy start of the investigation, he has now sharply curtailed. The attempted abduction of the 8-year-old daughter of Van Kouwen by the police is now seen as a bizarre coincidence. "A connection with the abduction of Marlies van der Kouw I close out," said Selby. The chief does not want to have research on the possibility of a mistaken identity.
The chief of police, the arrested suspect Rayan Pieters as prime suspect, if he makes. Pieters previously raped a white woman and held her for days. He recently agreed early Friday to horror of the woman who still lives on the island.
On the island yesterday searches were done in the hope that somewhere Marlies is being held. Meanwhile, the police also sought information from all ATMs. Furthermore, images of five cameras, which are aimed at the beach bar Karel, where Marlies van der Kouw the hours spent for the abduction. It is clear that Marlies also omging with American medicine students and possibly the night before her abduction by them was a party. A week after the abduction early focus for his Schagen just flown in sniffer dogs. Six days after the crime, he had this rout in the crowded and not marketed scene of the crime.

BONAIRE - An investigationteam of the police in Bonaire yesterday dug in search of traces that can lead to the body of the disappeared pharmacist-trainee Marlies van der Kouw (24).
There would be a search on a landfill near the spot where the woman has disappeared, and at three other places. That is confirmed by well-informed sources on the island.
Police spokesman Jos Klaren doesn't want to "confirm nor deny." this message, "Since we don't comment on the search, but I can say that we focused more specific on the search.''
Whether the targeted searches of the team are made based on information gained from interviews with the 24-year-old suspect Ryan P. or tips from the public, can't Klaren tell as well " because of the interests of the investigation".
Posting journalists try to follow outgoing searchteams from the police-station in Kralendijk expecting to learn more about the investigation. Yesterday morning it led even to a chase, where a police-team succesfully got rid of the pursuers during rides of 150 kilometers per hour on the narrow roads. Another trip of police-investigators to the northern part of the island lead to the policestation of Rincon. Journalists think that the suspect P. is to be questioned by Dutch policemen overthere.
P. was previously sentenced to eight years in prison for the abduction and rape of a woman. He is only three months out of prison. P. received after returning to the island no professional guidance, insiders know.
A tour on the island makes more clear with what problems the searchteam is to be confronted. As far as sight goes, all high cacti grow amid dry bushes on the cork dry land. Next of that, the island has about 150 caves as big that you can even easaly lost in them. If the body of Marlies has been dumped in one of them, it only can be found after a insiders tips.

the younger girl, 8, in the second kidnapping managed to escape. she too was pulled off a bike. her abductor is under arrest. her older sister, Jaimylee van Kouwen, 17, worked in a restaurant next to the bar, Karel's where the missing one left from on her bike. their father, Wout van Kouwen got a ransom request phone call for his older daughter (the abductee was not his daughter). names are similar. the cops say cases are unrelated. i don't think so.
names:
Marlies van der Kouwe, 24, intern from Holland, pulled from her bike after leaving Karel's and carried off on a motor scooter, still missing. Suspect arrested. He had kidnapped raped and held a woman before. Got out of jail three months ago.
Bo van Kouwen, 8, was pulled from her bike, escaped. Living on island.
Jaimylee van Kouwen, 17 older sister of Bo, subject of ransom request. Living on island.
Wout van Kouwen, father of the two, got a ransom request for a half million euro. he was a crown witness who was moved to Bonaire for his safety after the guys he testified against got wind of his betrayal in a drug investigation. he himself is characterized as a (former) drug dealer
Ontvoering Marlies mogelijk vergissing

Suspect disappearance case interrogated
27 Sep, 2008, 09:32 (GMT -04:00)
KRALENDIJK -- The team of investigation has started with the interrogation of the 24-year old Rayan P., who’s being suspected of involvement in the disappearance of the Dutch Marlies van der Kouwen
The examining judge has placed the suspect into custody on Friday. P. was arrested on Thursday. Four houses were searched, of which three are where the suspect supposedly stays and one where a scooter was found. “The police confiscated several things and also the scooter, which is being investigated for tracks”, says Chief of Police John Schagen.
Two other searches were conducted on Friday, and in addition to that, search operations with three tracker dogs in the course of the afternoon yesterday. They did this in the area where Marlies disappeared in the night of Saturday to Sunday. One of the tracker dogs is from the police corps in Curacao and the other two are from the Dutch Corps National Police Services. The search operation continues today.
“The investigation-team and the Public Prosecutor received dozens of tips in the past few days, including some very usable, which are being investigated. It doesn’t matter what the tip is, each single one is welcome. People that think that they have information that may have to do with the case, are incited to report this to the detective service via telephone number 717-8555, or 911, which is in operation 24 hours a day”, says Schagen.
He said:
I saw, for a couple of seconds, a struggle behind the fence.
After that we called the police.
After that a colleague and I went back to the fence, but they already drove away.
That really sucks.
We where hanging on the fence and saw how he dragged her. That was terrible.
We could not see what he looked like, it was too dark.
I have not been able to sleep for days now, everytime I hear her screaming.
And now we know someone is missing, that's terrible.
I really regret that I could not do anything for her.

Police Bonaire: no ransom demanded

Kralendijk - There is no connection between the disappearance of the Dutch Marlies van der Kouw on Bonaire and the attempted abduction of an 8-year-old girl on the island.
That informs the police on Bonaire.
It was suggested a link between the two cases, because the surname of the 8-year-old girl, Van Kouw, very similar to that of Marlies.
The AD and De Telegraaf reported that the father of a young girl losgeldeis for the 24-year-old Marlies has received, but according to the police of Bonaire is not that story.
Marlies van der Kouw disappeared last weekend after a party and since then has heard nothing more of her.
In connection with the disappearance is a suspect arrested.
Don't know what this says....but it seems they are afraid for tourism again.
ETA: I'm told the tourism info is in the last paragraph.

Media reported yesterday a partial confession of the suspect. P. would only have recognized that he knew Marlies from Kralendijk and the nightlife in and around the boulevard. That explains a police source close to the investigation against the AD.
,, P. During his interrogations so far in no way acknowledged involvement in her disappearance. He says there is absolutely nothing to do with having the conscious and Saturday night with his girlfriend on stage to have been in the entertainment center,''knows the well-established source.
The research is not to the outcome of the interrogations go, but denies it with certainty that the investigation would have confirmed that P. a partial declaration. 'Since we do in the interest of the investigation no communication about it.''
According to the source agents within the team found that there is poor cooperation. , "They are the direction and control of the investigation lost. Everyone is doing some research work for themselves, but there is no larger vision.''
The girlfriend of Ryan, according to an uncle of Ryan, Norberto, opposite him and the police declared "that they and a part eve of the night with Ryan has spent, but that he is not the whole time with her was."
Norberto: "That they told me when we are with the family came together in the house of my sister, his mother, just after Ryan by police Thursday was arrested. We live in such close proximity in the district Tera Kora and once was known that Ryan was taken down by his mother to come together. There was also in girlfriend.
We were there at that meeting also all agree that Ryan is between the time of the disappearance of Marlies on Saturday and his arrest five days later in no way had behaved strangely. Ryan not lived with his mother, but a daughter of a cousin since he has a small two months ago came back to Bonaire.''Ryan has been six years on Curacao due to rape.
Ryan would have been during his questioning admitted Marlies to know that night and contacted her to have had. ,, But how much that says I wonder, everyone in the nightlife here know each other more or less,''says a catering manager.
Ryan also is unclear whether his possible role in the disappearance of Marlies admitted. According to his uncle Norberto within the family, there is doubt about the potential share of Ryan. ,, His mother do not know more, his 34-year-old brother Winston believes in his innocence, but has stopped eating. They are literally all sick.''
Yesterday evening Ryans mother again by the police and they would be heard confronted with her son. Norberto: "They are at this time (17.00 hours local time, ed) on the agency to be heard.''

What did Rayan with jerry can of petrol?
John van den Heuvel and Bert Houses
KRALENDIJK - One step forward, two back. While the sun burned early on the white police building of Bonaire, took investigator John Schagen yesterday with his team the latest round in the abduction of Marlies van der apothekersassistente Kouw (24). A backhoe action Sunday yielded a disappointment and windfall on. Nothing found, so maybe they are still alive. But what was the day after the prime suspect called KidNap with a jerry can of petrol?
The police on Sunday searched the landfill of Bonaire.
With the 24-year-old Rayan Pieters, has the right to police the deal. At least, that is the belief of most residents of the small island. Especially now Pieters in the interviews he has indicated that contact with Marlies van der Kouw had, and that "something" happened ... In an attempt to talk to the suspect, the search organized a meeting between him and his emotional mother. "Then he refurbished it."
"He just repeated", it sounds as well. "He is not good, he should just say what he has left that girl." With the disappearance of Marlies, today nine days ago, the police arrested someone in Pieters with all the hallmarks of the usual suspect. The three months since released man, the police have the reputation of a sexual maniac.
If sixteen years for the first time he was sentenced. "He broke in with two or three friends, and the woman of the house fell on them," says a source. The woman was violently raped Pieters. "But because he was still a minor, according to the juvenile he was convicted. Soon he was released."
Pieters recently arrived Friday for his second rape at the age of eighteen. On the judges made this offense deep impression. According to the Czech wife Veronica, they came in 2002 at night at home in a heap met dwelling. When they started the bathroom, she got a knife to the throat of Pieters, she said.
What then followed was a horrifying night, with Pieters her in her own car drove over the island. First she was raped on the beach, and a few hours later several times again in a cape. Long hours had forced them ride, she said. Only in the early morning she came again Friday, after her husband's car during a search on the island and saw a wild chase started. A few days after the couple reported the rape to the authorities.
Rayan Pieters twice got to eight years in jail imposed, the judges questioned at no time, although he denied the kidnapping and rape. The girl had a sexual relationship with him, he said, he had her phone number in his mobile phone. They had him picked up at a bus stop with her car. And after the sex they were even a little drinking and smoking essentially, to her husband arrived. "Get out, there's my husband!" she said. After a brief period with electronic ruling on Curaçao, Pieters recently turned back on Bonaire. Veronica still wrote letters of protest to Justice. But through his family he just got a job as a house keeper at the Plaza Hotel. And in the small entertainment center he met Marlies van der Kouw too, so it now. The police arrested him last week because of "reasonable suspicion", especially after a scooter when he was found. In the previous cases he took victims to graze in their own home, Marlies was almost home. Even when Marlies says that he knew her, just as the previous victim.
The police is now hours before the hour of the accused after courses. His cousin provided him an alibi for the partly conscious Saturday night. He was with her, but not the whole night. Why he is hiding the stolen scooter, investigators want to know now. And, also very important why he took Monday - totally upset - a large jerry can with petrol? What was he? Has he Marlies disappear?
However, the investigation did not focus entirely on him. The search runs these days of intensive contacts Marlies after all, with special attention for some American medical students and friends. With their fourth Marlies party the night before, and they argued with one of them, it seems, an angry phone call. The Americans studying on the island at the Medical University. Since yesterday observation teams were active.
It can be seen that the police is completely different than reading an offense by Rayan Pieters certainly does not rule. The phone records are now being carefully measured plozen,'s alibi checked the friends, parents and colleagues questioned. It remains a serious scenario that Marlies its sample as a "friend" already knew. Just not good enough.
"One thing does not fit in Pieters," says a source. "He has never killed his victims. That gives them something to hope."

KRALENDIJK – Despite the big search action of last weekend, there is still no trace of Marlies van der Kouwe. The 24-year old Dutch assistant-pharmacist disappeared last week. The police veil themselves in silence at this moment.
Nothing is being said about the case since the last press conference of Friday afternoon. Late in the afternoon on Saturday, police officers went in the direction of a kunuku in Mexico where there is a garbage dump and searched the area. On Sunday early in the morning they searched the area north of Antriol. They have been digging, but didn’t say what they were looking for and why at that location. The police have closed off the dirt roads that lead to that location, so they can do the work. The investigation continues today.
Marlies van der Kouwe was pulled from her bike around 01:30 on Sunday morning and taken along on a scooter. Ryan P. was arrested on Thursday as a suspect in the case and placed in custody on Friday by the examining magistrate. Rumour has it that the suspect is talking and confessed that he has contact with Marlies.

Leusden (netherlands) holds hope of returning Marlies
Leusden - Since the recent stabbing of life Marlies van der apothekersassistente Kouwe (24) is told, hold the breath in Mandaluyong.
Marlies van der Kouw (24) from Leusden.
The police pressure on Bonaire is looking at her, but so far without result. Yet there is still hope in the village.
Jan Willem father and mother Lily are still on the Antillean island, hoping for when they turn in their arms Marlies able to reach. Nienke with sister and brother Jan Willem goes to the circumstances of 'reasonable', so let a good knowledge to know. Gerda neighbor of the Low Dimensional is worried about them. 'It keeps me busy throughout the day. How bad must it be for his family? Especially those uncertainties must be terrible.''
Marlies although they do not know very well ( "we have just live side by side") is Gerda's life is now overshadowed by the disappearance case on Bonaire. ,, At night I always look to SBS 6 to see if there is news. For the rest I try as little as possible. You also have a 'normal' life and otherwise provides too much atmosphere in the house.''She's still trying to see positive. 'Every day without news expires, the odds against her lower back. I am positive attitude, so I do hope.''
The family is surviving in the Netherlands, will be kept informed of the police investigation on Bonaire by a family called the police detective of Utrecht. He was also the man who in the night from Monday on Tuesday Marlies' mother informed about the abduction, which they direct the aircraft to Kralendijk extracted. The same kind of official explained the father in Melbourne in. ,, The family detective is the primary contact for the family and is also the best knowledge of the investigation there,''said police spokesman Thomas Aling. ,, The family should know all developments as the first, before anything is sent to the press.''
The family detective caught the family last week already. He also traveled with them what they wanted with the media. , Who is obviously massively collapsed on them. It was agreed provisionally equally nothing to say. In itself logical: it is very unreal to everything about your sister in the media to read or see. If they want to talk, then I rule that,''says Aling

'Kidnapping suspect description is not true'
By PETER DE KNEGT
KRALENDIJK - The description that Bonairiaanse a guard of the kidnapper of Marlies van der Kouwe has given no right of way with the appearance and clothing of the arrested P.
The investigation team is looking for this model beachbag
Furthermore, the police even after a week research and interviews with still no hard evidence that indicates involvement of P. in the disappearance of the Netherlands in Bonaire.
That explains MacKenzie Domingo, the lawyer of P. in a conversation with the AD on Bonaire. It is the first time that the outside lawyer to occur on her 'completely negative' client.
'He said not to have done and the woman absolutely no notice. On the basis of what is there now, I expect that he is free man again on Friday. I am also still no self-incriminatory fact in the dossier came from,''the lawyer.
The guard by the kidnapping of the still-free rail Marlies has seen, said that the man a black jacket and black jeans wore. 'My client was wearing that night a three-quarters blue jeans and a tight white-blue shirt.
He is also not as 1.80 meters is said and did not curl back of his neck. He wore his hair in and contribute vlechtjes with a Dreadlock or Maton, as it is called here. He declares that he is certainly not on the abduction site has been.''
Leusden derived from the Marlies van der Kouwe, which ran on Bonaire internship, since September 22 trace.
'All lies about Ryan'
"He would not go after the woman disappeared in the weekend? Nonsense. He's just come out bread and I got him Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday to his job at the Plaza Hotel brought to 7.50 pm.''
The mother of Ryan P. , Virginia, believes in the sacred innocence of her son and rejects all "lies and fabrication" that about him doing the rounds on the island. In her small, full of family photos decorate the house in Kaya Amazon follows them throughout the day radio, television and newspapers.
'There is nothing of. My son Monday last week would have bought petrol in a jerry can to Mrs burning? Nonsense! I stood with my car stopped and got him to call for petrol. That is the story.''
,, My car, which has been seized for investigation, would be used to hide the body? Nonsense! The night that the woman disappeared, had another son, who works as a security guard from 22.00 am to 6.00 pm my car.''
And so choking according to the mother and the lawyer of the myths around Ryan. ,, A colleague explains to him three times Wednesday that he would have given, because he was nervous in connection with the kidnapping. My client is stomach and patient swallows pills in combination with chemical paint made him nauseous,''says Domingo.
Ryan does not have a watertight alibi for that Saturday night. ,, Or at 1.30 pm he was already at home or at the steps, he does not know exactly, but he was certainly not the place where she was abducted.''According to his mother and a brother Ryan behaved normally after that Saturday night. 'He just came to visit Sunday morning. He was always just as happy. Until Thursday he will by the police was dragged from the car.''
