McCain Office Is Sent White Powder, Threat
Denver Campaign Office Receives Threatening Letter; Staff Being Examined By Medical Personnel

(CBS) John McCain's campaign office in Denver, Colorado, has received a letter containing a threat and "an amount of white powder in it," a McCain campaign spokesman told CBS News' Michelle Levi.
"We immediately notified local and federal law enforcement agencies and are looking to cooperate with them," McCain spokesman Jeff Sadosky said.
The city of Denver is at a heightened security level, as the Secret Service and other officials prepare for the Democratic National Convention, which is set to begin on Monday.
The Arapaho County Police Station was abuzz with activity when they were called to confirm receiving word of the threat, Levi reports. They have started a call line as officials return media calls one by one.
"As a precautionary measure, we have closed the office and staff are being examined by medical personnel," a campaign spokesperson told CBS News.

Oh geeeeeeeeez, all we need is this kind of sympathy for McCain. No doubt Phantom will dig up some wacko stuff that says Obama is behind it. I put NOTHING past Phantom in his hate-filled quest against Obama. NOTHING.

Officials: Threats sent to McCain offices
CENTENNIAL, Colo. - Authorities say a threatening letter containing an unidentified white powder was sent to a John McCain campaign office in the Denver suburb of Centennial, and a similar letter was sent to a McCain office in Manchester, N.H.
A hazardous materials team was trying to determine if the powder found in Colorado is harmful.
It wasn't immediately known if the New Hampshire letter also contained a powder, said Jeff Sadosky, a spokesman with McCain's national campaign office in Arlington, Va.
Andy Lyon of Parker South Metro Fire Rescue Authority said a worker at the Colorado office discovered the power after opening the letter Thursday afternoon.
Lyon said no injuries have been reported.
Seven people drove themselves to Sky Ridge Medical Center, but none showed any symptoms of exposure to a toxic substance, said hospital spokeswoman Linda Watson.
Postal Inspector Jo Jan Henderson said agents from her office are on the scene.
Officials with the FBI, Secret Service and the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department did not immediately return telephone calls.
The threat came four days before the Democratic National Convention opens in Denver.

McCain offices evacuated after threats
White powder, letters found in packages sent to Denver, New Hampshire
DENVER - The campaign headquarters of presidential candidate John McCain in Denver and New Hampshire were evacuated Thursday after the offices received envelopes containing threatening letter and an unidentified white powder, a campaign spokesman said.
The Colorado letter arrived in the mail in the afternoon, and the campaign immediately notified local and federal law enforcement authorities, Jeff Sadosky, a spokesman for the campaign in suburban Washington, D.C. told NBC News.
A similar letter was sent to a McCain office in Manchester, N.H., Sadosky said.
The Colorado letter contained a threat against McCain — “something that was written down that caused alarm,” said Bruce Williams, chief of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Bureau.
Twelve people were quarantined outside the suburban Denver office: three police officers, two firefighters and seven civilians, said Andy Lyon of the Parker South Metro Fire Rescue Authority. Four people were decontaminated at Sky Ridge Medical Center.
“Our guys did not find any powder. There were maybe a couple of grains of something inside an envelope and they had to kind of work to get a sample,” Lyon said.
The road around the business was closed off, but Williams said no major traffic was being blocked. There appeared to be no danger to the environment around the building, he said.
“Whatever it is, it’s contained within the building itself,” Williams said.
Lyon said a worker at the office discovered the power after opening the letter Thursday afternoon.
Lyon said no injuries have been reported but some people may have gone to hospitals on their own.
Sadosky added, "We are taking all necessary precautions," which he said included an evacuation of the Denver office, where dozens of people work.
He said the composition of the powder found in the envelope was not immediately known, and that he did not know to whom the parcel was addressed.
The Democratic National Convention is due to open in Denver on Monday.

Wrong address
If it was "white powder", maybe it was sent to the "wrong office." 
That "other candidate" hasn't been off the "white powder" all that long.
