New member of the family

Actually we have 2 of them. I swear these animals find us LOL. I was awakened to the sound of meowing at my background at around 3am. Certain one of my kittys had been locked out when we went to bed i went out to retrieve whoever it was. Momma cat went with me she must have thought it was one of ours too. It wasnt. It was a black long haired totally furry kitten. We tried to catch him but he took off. The next morning my fil who had heard the commotion at night asked if I was able to get my cat. I said no and explained. He went outside and found the furball and had to chase him. The chase wasnt long since poor kitty collapsed and we realized he was skin and bones despite all his fur. He has been here a month now and is over his fears, sleeps with me, keeps me up all night like a real baby, and is fat as can be. I think he must have been about 8 weeks old when we found him. Later we found out someone had dumped a litter across the street he must have been the only one to wander off and come to my house. Good for him too, the rest endedup at the pound Sad

Our second baby came my way via a pet rescue. My daughters boyfriends sister had rescued two shihtzu dogs awhile back. She didnt think it through much and ended up with a pregnant shuhtzu girl within a few months. I actually called to try and get one of the puppies but she had all boys. I already have a mutt girl dog we also somehow ended up with. I thought mixing that with a shihtzu was too scary an option LOL so I would get another girl dog. The woman offered me the mom once she was done nursing. Shes with us now. Shes skittish, obviously has been abused in the past, and is weird with her food and likes to sleep in the bath tub. Her name is Peaches. Shes 3 yrs old.

Aw-w, they are precious! A few weeks ago our Maltese was diagnosed with diabetes and lost her vision very soon. She had always slept with us but now was fearful since she could not see and did fall off the bed a couple of times. We found a softsided crate (nylon) with mesh windows which is just the perfect size for a small dog. This is Muffie's "house" now and she loves it with her little round pillow in it. We keep it by the bed and she comes and goes whenever she wants - it seems to give her security, like her own little nest. Something like that might help your new baby to feel at home.

Thanks! They madde good additions to the growing brood I have here. We lost 3 cats this year Crying or Very sad One of old age, one got hit by a car, and the other my dd took to live with her since it was her cat after all. I held the cat hostage as long as I could, but my grandson really wanted his ditty. So we only had my older sons male cat, and one momma cat whose also going to be leaving us for my dds too. Now we will have 2 male cats and two female dogs which my sons love to say "we have some bitches" and not get in trouble.
Cortez is a bit of a pill though. He insists on sleeping ON ME and the whole time is kneeding on me, and purring. I swear he slobbers in his sleep to. If I dare move him he just comes right back and makes his way under my arm. Peaches was neglected were pretty sure. She wants to sleep in the bathtub and is really weird with her food. We feed her and she acts like she hasnt eaten in weeks. My muttly girl dog has taken this new dog in the house well, thank god. We have only had a few growls and one bite incident. Two girl dogs not raised together though I was told to expect it. The kids love it, and my dh said he didnt like the new dog, but guess who she loves? HIM! So now its his dog, and he knows it. all 6ft3 of him and his little toy shihtzu hahaha.

I am going to buy a dog crate for Peaches. She likes confined spaces. Plus she walks all night long and I have hard wood floors so I am always hearing the tapping of her feet. I get up and shes always awake staring at me like "what?".

Thanks. Ill try and get a pic of my muttly molly too. We also have been having adventures with gerbils LOL. Thats a whole other story. Lets just say 6 gerbils, 3 cats and 2 dogs was a bad idea.

well the gerbils are pretty easy they have their own tank and their hubbys and my 8 yr olds. The cats just like to look at them and one time my oldest son was home and I had taken my 14 yr old to the dr. On the way home we stopped for pizza. When I got here my older son was flipping out. One of the cats had knocked a toy down from the gerbils cage and they got out. He thought we only had one and was saying how fast the gerbil was. One minute it was in front of him, the next behind him. I laughed and said thats bc theres two of them in that cage. We caught them and switched from the plastic critter trail cages to regular aquarium tanks and havent had any problems since.
