Drew Peterson's Sons Receive Grand Jury Subpoenas

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

Drew Peterson's two sons with third wife Kathleen Savio are expected to appear Thursday morning before a grand jury investigating the death of their mother, FOX News' Greta Van Susteren reported.

Sources close to the Peterson investigation told Van Susteren four police officers arrived at the ex-police sergeant's house at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Peterson answered the door and they asked to see 13-year-old Christopher and 15-year-old Tom.

When they came to the door, police served them each with a grand jury subpoenas.

The 54-year-old former Bolingbrook police officer has been named a suspect in his fourth wife Stacy Peterson's October disappearance, but hasn't been charged with any crime and denies having anything to do with her disappearance.

Last week, a coroner ruled Peterson's third wife, Kathleen Savio, died by drowning and her death was ruled a homicide. She was found dead in her bathtub in March 2004, shortly before her divorce with Peterson was finalized. Four years ago, a coroner's jury ruled her death was an accident.

Peterson is reportedly attempting to hire a lawyer for the two boys.

Why do the two boys need a lawyer -- just because they were called as witnesses? Do the boys want a lawyer or does the father want a lawyer for them?

In a case like this they certainly SHOULD have a lawyer. This doesn't surprise me at all, and it's a good move.

UPDATE…..DREW PETERSON STORY
by Greta Van Susteren
We have just learned:

….the boys of Drew Peterson, subpoenaed yesterday morning to testify before the grand jury at 9am this morning did NOT testify. Their testimony has been postponed. We are attempting to get more information. My guess? that the boys hired a lawyer and that the lawyer got it postponed in order that he could debrief the boys and advise them of their rights etc…this would be routine reason to postpone.

UPDATE: 2:59pm - It was just confirmed to me the reason for the postponement of the boys’ grand jury testimony - it is so that they can get a lawyer to advise them or their rights and to explain the grand jury process to them. They will not get individual lawyers but rather the boys will share one.

Did Drew get his retirement? Or did he loose it when he had to resign early? Because if he didn't get his retirement what are they living on? On Greta they showed him renewing his leased vehicle for over $1,000.00 a month is what he said (seems pretty steep to me). He is paying his own lawyer and his PR guy and all the monthly expenses from what? And now a lawyer for the boys? Did Drew set up a paypal account for donations on his web site? Are people actually donating to him?

He receives his police pension of approximately $5,800.00/month.

Yup. And that's a couple hundred less than he had anticipated. Can you imagine? $70,000./yr. pension.

Now that he has lost his gun permits, it makes me wonder what else.
I"m wondering if he is brought to trial & convicted of one or both, will he lose his pension?
Could the p.d. take that away because of convictions? just curious, tia.

i cant think of a reason or way that the govt would pay for this

it was smart to get a lawyer as savannah says

but i hope that just because petersons paying for it that won't mean the lawyer will tell the boys what to say on ptersons behalf

that would almost be like witness tampering
