Nancy Grace Apr 24 TRANSCRIPT
NOT VERBATIM NOT COMPLETE
Nancy:
Jossy, welcome. Another suspect arrested, questioned and released?
Jossy:
Yes, on Saturday they detained him kept him for 6 hours and then released
Nancy:
Who was it? Seems we've lost Jossy.
See if you can connect him with me again.
Eric:
2 ways to put this, we don't know who it is, it's part of the going back and taking a look at everyone involved, he was not questioned before. He was said to be EB then corrected to AB. Nobody quite knows who he is
Nancy:
ANy connection to the last arrestee GVC
Eric:
We don't have that answer, investigators aren't putting together the link either
GVC at about 10:04 a.m. walked out of the Oranjestad police station. Authorities said they didn't have enough to hold him, we were waiting for a hearing tomorrow before a Judge. Didn't even have enough to hold him until tomorrow. He was talking, he did give a statement, he was co-operative with authorities is what we've been told.
Nancy:
What is the latest on Dompig who was running the investigation. How many times has his son been taken in for questioning.
Eric:
I talked to Dompig today, he says he wishes they'd leave his son alone To the AP he said Michael has been questioned once before and once after GVC was arrested.
DOmpig said in Bon Dia that Michael Dompig knows GVC and worked with him
Nancy:
Take a listen to what Dompig had to say. Plays audio ...
Natalee's father Dave Holloway. Isn't that just ironic that the former head of the investigation saying suspects basically lied ... I've got my JD not my DDS I don't know how to pull a tooth, why didn't he say that while he was investigating the case?
Dave:
Good question, everything is pointing back to the three suspects, this Geoffrey I told you if they detain him 8 days it might amount to something, if they let him go he didn't provide much
Nancy:
To Clark Golban, I want to talk about the various people that have been caught and released. Out of Aruba tonight 2 ppl in 72 hours have been arrested, questioned and released in the Natalee investigation.
What can you tell us about all the catch and releases?
Clark
9 of them now... John and Jones detained right away
Nancy:
Strictly detained on the word of Joran and the Kalpoes
Dave:
COrrect
Nancy:
The suspects claimed these two innocent minority suspects helped Natalee when they let her off at the Holiday Inn..J2K's came with a complex story about these two guards, that was quite an involved statement
Dave:
Oh yes, I remember.
Clark:
tHE 3 we speak about, J2K's but Joran was held 3 months, Kalpoes set free 5 days later. Next after Kalpoes was Steve Croes, he was held for 10 days...then Paul Joran's father the Judge
Nancy:
I think we should show a picture of his backside, that was the side of him we saw most of all.
Clark:
GVC released today and then this new person AB, we don't have a photo of him
Nancy;
Back to Jossy, you're there on the scene, what possible connection between AB and the last detainee
Jossy:
I can't imagine what connection he could have. I know that this person arrested and questioned for 6 hours has a website which he appears and find pictures of Joran and many girls. Maybe some kind of connection that the police want to know to what degree he knows these people
Nancy:
Eric in Aruba, I believe that Good Morning America reported a cab driver tip lead to GVC's arrest
Eric:
Yes a female cab driver had Natalee in her cab driving around and they were talking about possibly Natalee was in love with this Dutch boy...Natalee's friends told about this boy whose name started with "G"
That story is bogus I've been told, that's not why Geoffrey was brought in. LE sources told us you can't count that shirt out yet either, the one faound back in June..
Nancy:
You have to work on that name Willem van Cromvoirt. Dave, we hear one story then another, the cab story, somebody said this said that, retracted it ...
Dave:
I haven't heard anything about a cab driver, I hear he was saying something on the beach and somebody overheard it ... who knows, I just hope tht when they arrested him he was able to give pertinent and good info and maybe somebody else will be arrested
Nancy:
Did you get your hopes up when you found out GVC was arrested and AB..only to find out they been released
Dave:
No, that was asked of me last week, I've seen this process occur a number ot times, arrest talk and release, it's a pattern with them. I'm hopeful he provided some good information
Nancy:
What do you think led to the additional searches near the fisherman's hut and out in the water
Dave
It was the boat theory. We've searched all of the land and it keeps coming up over and over, even from the assistant prosecutor early on who said a boat was used to take Natalee out in the ocean...I think they need to give it some attention
Nancy:
Aren't there surveillance in Aruba of all the ships that go out, even at night
Dave:
There is, on one of those nights, June 7 or 8 the electicity went out for 2 hours so you wonder if that was the time and opportunity to do it and a small boat can't be picked up as well as a big boat.

Is Dave saying that they planned for the power to go out so they could take out the boat or someone was in on it and made the power go out?
Does the conspiracy never end?

Nancy
Can you imagine your child disappearing on her senior trip. We will not let go of this case.
What are they doing down there. To our international law expert. In ARuba you can arrest witnesses, you can incarcerate them and then let them go
Raoul:
The arrests in Aruba are not as valid as in America. If you have personal knowledge you can be arrested
Nancy:
They have a problem, the PM wrote to Beth Twitty and referred to Natalee as Nathalee
Dave:
Especially when the prime misniter made that big gaff of calling her Nathalee.
Lisa, phone question:
With all the work you've done Nancy, you're an american hero. what are the ppl in Aruba thinking since there hasn't been a solution to thise case?
Nancy:
To Eric in Aruba, how are the locals feeling about this. Do they just want their tourist $$ or do they care that it hasn't been solved?
Eric
Lot of ppl want resolution. Everyone you talk to, ppl say we feel for Natalee's mom and dad, we want to know what happened. As it progressed, you've seen the feeling towards the police and international media has soured with native arubans. Everyone still does want resoltuion, they want the final chapter to be written
Nancy:
Elaine in MA, "did they ever search the boat the 2 DJ's were on"
Eric, from what I understand the DJ off the party boat was arrested, questioned and released and the boat was searched
Eric
It was searched; Steve was arrested b/c he gave a false alibi. He said he saw them there dropping Natalee off at the Holiday Inn

My favorite part was when one of the call-ins kept referring to the 'Deepak Brothers' -- took her forever to get it straight!!!
Thanks again, Heli.

Nancy:
Distressing news out of Aruba, two more suspects arrested and released.
What became of the searches, underwater searches There were bottom of the ocean photographs made..
Eric:
We understand that sidescan sonar was used and the AP reported that the investigators were analyzing the sidescan photos. It was right off the coast where Natalee was reported to have last been. I was told by a source close to the coast guard that they had come up empty handed.
Nancy:
Back to Eric, these searches by coast guard, is it aruban or american coast guard.
Eric:
Aruban coast guard and Netherlands Antilles Coast Guard. It was a joint effort.
Nancy:
John Clark, FBI out of Houston, that part of the country I've dived in often, pretty heavy current you can drift dive there. Let's analyze why they would be searching a year later for her remains.
John
You have to think all along that if you're going to try to put a body into a body of water, you have to do something to keep it down. they have to be thinking along those lines, it's a year later to think that way ... it's kind of ridiculous. You have to wonder what's in their mind...it's such a fragmented investigation, it's ridiculous.
Nancy:
The other thing is this isn't like the Laci Peterson case, her remains were weighted down, but here this goes out to the open sea, it's not contained like SF Bay
John
Once you get about 3 miles out, it's just deep and you can put something in and the likelihood of it coming back is remote. Why not, I still think it goes back to them not being equipped to do this investigation. They should have brought in somebody else on this case
Nancy:
Former prosecutor, Gary ___ underwater photography is not as rudimentary as ppl may believe. It can be very detailed, can get a wonderful picture from that.
Gary
The theory that definitely has to be considered is whether they have info that the body has been weighted down. They are advancing their techniques, using more vehicles, a year later knowing this ocean...it's hard to believe they'd find anything.
Nancy:
Eric, just exactly what has the government search entailed. What water searches has this gov't done to find Natalee
Eric
It has been very involved, there's a close relationship b/n Aruba and The Netherlands...there were surveillance photos by F16's..Dompig told me the
satellite images could be peeled away to reveal the infrared portions ...the government has been very involved and TES also did searches
it's hard to believe that any part of the island hasn't been searched
Phone Q: If they are innocent will they receive a public apology from Natalee's family
Dave I'm really concerned that ppl are so distressed about a formal public apology as opposed to finding your daughter. Would you give one?
Dave:
To those who continuously lied and obstructed an investigation?
Nancy:
You know what, don't even answer the question, whether they're guilty or innocent doesn't matter, they've lied and they led the police down a path that takes them away from the real suspect
Dave:
I agree
Nancy:
Levi in Tennessee "What are these schmucks talking about...Tacopina talking about a lawsuit, they haven't got a leg to stand on ...
Nancy:
I don't even know if he can do that. The threat of civil lawsuit
Unidentified male:
Given that I have done a lot of civil litigation, I'd say it's appropriate to consider it. The slander, defamation, false statements being made, ruining one's life. If they didn't do it, and there's no evidence that they did, they've been defamed..maybe they ought to bring suit
Nancy:
Why don't they go ahead and trial it, then their client would be deposed and cross examined, I say file it ...

It's a real word.
cock·a·ma·mie also cock·a·ma·my ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kk-mm)
adj. Slang
Trifling; nearly valueless.
Ludicrous; nonsensical: gave me a cockamamie reason for not going.

It's a word I've heard and used for years. Whether it's in any dictionary, is up for discussion. I shall check that out, right now and report back
And here it is:
cock·a·ma·mie also cock·a·ma·my ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kk-mm)
adj. Slang
Trifling; nearly valueless.
Ludicrous; nonsensical: gave me a cockamamie reason for not going.

Well, Katrina IS a Dutch name, and of course Aruba is full of windmills. So...it's not hard to see how they managed this. Probably it was the same people who caused the power outage so that Natalee could be exhumed from the dunes and buried at sea under cover of darkness. And, no doubt, caused the infra-red detection systems of those F16s to fail.

. . . . I even thought it might have been some weird 'play' on David Koch's name. . . .
. . . So many 'cocks' in this case to keep straight -- the whole case is cockamamie -- (I love that word -- it 'sounds' like what is is -- kinda crazy!
