Refs International Canadian Election tracker.
Because we're having a Federal Election too dammit.
I'm voting Green because I live in an NDP riding- (Olivia Chow wife of Jack Layton) and my heart has been bled dry already. I could never be a Conservative but I like what they promise re changing the young offenders act. I used to be Liberal until I moved from Montreal and Trudeau died My Mom who still lives in Quebec tells me Stephane Dion is a fine man and she's a good judge of character so I hope the Liberals aren't trounced. I used to be a new democrat until recently when Jack decided to base his campaign on the empowerment of women while attempting to block Elizabeth May from the debate.
I'd vote Rhinoceros if I could...but I can't so I'm going to help the Green party increase their popular vote this time.
Our American and international friends are going WTF is a Rhinoceros LOL!! Where would we begin to explain that one.

That's okay woe!!! You did participate by posting !!
Conservative is like Republican and they're in power now with a minority. Liberal is like your Democrat. The NDP are pretty socialist and the Green party is concerned with environmental issues. We go between Liberal and Conservative with the rest really just fringe
We tend to vote the way the US voted the last time they voted. We were Liberal until you voted GWB in for a second term and then we voted Conservative. They called an election early here the media is speculating because our Conservative PM is afraid he won't survive a second term if Obama is elected. We don't have set elections here so politicians can manipulate the timing of them to coincide with popularity.
We share a scary economy and scarier world together woe! I bet we're both looking for candidates that will work honestly and diligently to keep us safe and sound.

The Parti Rhinocéros, commonly known as the Rhinoceros Party in English, was a registered political party in Canada from the 1960s to the 1990s. Operating within the Canadian tradition of political satire, the Rhinoceros Party's basic credo, their so-called primal promise, was "a promise to keep none of our promises."[1] They then promised outlandishly impossible schemes designed to amuse and entertain the voting public.[2]
The Rhinos were started in 1963 by Jacques Ferron,[3] "Éminence de la Grande Corne du parti Rhinoceros". In the 1970s, a group of artists joined the party and created a comedic political platform to contest the federal election. Ferron (1979), poet Gaston Miron (1972) and singer Michel Rivard (1980) ran against Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in his Montreal seat.
The party claimed to be the spiritual descendants of Cacareco, a Brazilian rhinoceros who was elected member of São Paulo's city council in 1958, and listed Cornelius the First, a rhinoceros from the Granby Zoo, east of Montreal, as its leader.[4] It declared that the rhinoceros was an appropriate symbol for a political party since politicians, by nature, are "thick-skinned, slow-moving, dim-witted, can move fast as hell when in danger, and have large, hairy horns growing out of the middle of their faces."[5]
Some members of the Rhino party would call themselves Marxist-Lennonist, a parody of the factional split between the Communist Party of Canada and the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist), although the Rhinoceros Party meant the term in reference to Groucho Marx and John Lennon.[6]
As seen at right, the party used as its logo a woodcarving of a rhinoceros by Albrecht Dürer, with the words "D'une mare à l'autre" (a French translation of Canada's Latin motto a mari usque ad mare, playing on the word mare, which means pond in French) at the top.

I think they want to succeed from Canada or something - kind of like that Alaska Independence Party.

My problem is I think both Obama and McCain have something to offer, but neither offer enough. I worry about the nations economy, security, and of course, health care. I dont think either man has the solutions to these problems. Some issue's I can set aside and work around, so much of my vote then goes towards my personal beliefs, and that takes me far away from Obama. Although I dont oppose all abortions, I can't vote for anyone who approves of partial birth/late term abortions. |
I agree on all counts. I like and dislike bits and pieces of them all too. I remember when I was younger it was either one of the other and now it's all a grey blur LOL!
I'm shocked at what I've read about Obama's views on partial birth/late term abortions. I don't even know where that came from. He needs to witness one and take a long hard look at his precious daughters.
I like Obama because I think his presence on the world stage sends such an uplifting message to so many young people. Just by being where he is must be helping so many kids dream bigger dreams. He should have chosen Hilary as his running mate though. I worry about his inexperience with the economy and Iraq though.

Hi Karn. I voted Conservative because I feel conservative in Canada is like moderate in the United States.
Now it's all tied up. What more craziness will enter this election? Will a Tim Horton Party emerge, promising a free donut and coffee coupon? When will the Curling Federation make its powerful endorsement? What about the hockey moms (98% of mothers)? There's a rumor the beer lobby is pandering to the religious right by demanding the Lord's Prayer say 'Give us this day our daily brew'. Stay tuned. This is dramatic. The world is watching the Refs International Canadian Election Tracker!
