He Was A Friend of Mine

It's not often that a version of any song as done by Willie doesn't come in first IMO but I've got to say - Dylan wins it hands down. I actually like the version by the Byrds better than Willie too. But I didn't see Brokeback Mountain and I'm certain seeing the movie adds much to how one feels about Willie's rendition. But damn - Dylan always has been and always will be just simply awesome.
