Drew Peterson Wants to Divorce Missing Wife

Former Illinois Sgt. Drew Peterson wants to divorce his wife who vanished more than three months ago, The Herald News reported on Thursday.

"Yeah, but I don’t think I can for a year or so," Peterson told the newspaper about his divorce plans.

Stacy Peterson disappeared in October and is believed to be dead. Peterson is a prime suspect but insists he is innocent.

"She ran off with another guy," Peterson said, according to the newspaper. "It’s that simple."

"First we have to see if she shows up," he told The Herald News. "Then I think we have to wait for a year."

The ex-cop told the newspaper he would not mind getting legal advice from Chicago attorney Corri Fetman, who is expected to appear in Playboy magazine and has promoted her practice in racy billboard ads, according to the paper.

"If she wants to go out for drinks, give me a call," he told The Herald News.

Peterson's third wife, Kathleen Savio, died under mysterious circumstances in 2004, when she was found in a bathtub. Her body was exhumed for further forensic analysis, and officials have reclassified her death as a "homicide staged to look like an accident."

I wonder if anything is going to be done to him concerning wife #2? I kind of doubt it since changing an autopsy after all these years would be a defense attorney's dream.

Not as much as you may think in this case. The circumstances surrounding Savio's death (#3 wife) are so bizarre that it is difficult to believe that anyone really thought it was an accident in the first place. Though I do agree the defense does have an edge in that area. One interesting fact is that Drew was already having an affair with Stacy, and she is his alibi for the prior night Savio was found dead. Also he made sure he had a witness with him that day, and asked him to check upstairs for Stacy. Then Drew comes up with some half baked will of "Stacy's" with his brother as the executor of her estate. A will that he promptly filed in two weeks time.

Savio's family is now suing Drew for wrongful death and fraud. They said if the suit follows then Drew can be forced to give a deposition. Now that will be a media gang bang. It may surpass Beth's lawsuit in NY against Joran for media coverage! IMO, this guy is heading full circle into being one of the most notorious of wife killers. I just pray that Drew tripped up in some way, because he has to be guilty with all what is already known about his current and past actions.

I heard last night on Greta that Joe Tacopina is representing the Savio family.

I wish he had considered that option last October -- yeah, I know. This way he doesn't have to pay alimony or split assets with her, but just saying. . .

IF the courts grant him divorce in a missing persons case,
& it later turns out that he murdered her, will that be enough for her family to have a judge override the divorce settlement IF he is granted
the divorce?
