I agree with that Charlie! That has been my opinion since HE went private!
Actually, when I saw the # of posts in the HE surpass the NH section and all forums on the front page I thought we may be headed for trouble.

I think charle may be referring to this post from KLeigh...some may have missed her post.

You presume incorrectly.

CR quoted from the Scrux thread which is on the NH thread. Always was. Never moved.

In particular, his allegations that RD said to move the thread and it was moved are just false.

not only false, but more involved than that i think.

and i think this kind of thing is part of what this thread is about.

charlierat said:

"The mere fact that Reddog can say "move the thread to HE" and the next thing you know, the thread is in HE is a strong indication of where the problem lies. "

as i have already pointed out, i did not say "move the thread to HE". i said "i think this thread belongs in HE". those are 2 very different statements.

also, the thread was not moved to HE. so that makes the rest of his statement false as well.

My point exactly. The board is now structured so HE is the main discussion forum.

There are 155 members. If the HE is the main discussion area, it's because people choose to post there. That's their option. You can't force them to post to NH if they don't want to.

Actually, since HE is an all topic forum, it or FreeFor All are more appropriate for the main forums than NH.

NH should stop being a catch-all for off-topic posts.

I think one of the biggest problems is how many people spend their time making posts for no other reason than to complain about HE and call it a cesspool and anyone who posts there turds.

I'd like a rule that discussion of HE is confined to HE, other than posts like RD's that recommend moving or splitting, and I mean that seriously.

Of course, we have no idea how many people voted with their multiple nics to close a section that they never even participated in.

Seems strange to me to ask a whole board if one area should be removed, because they don't like the people who participate in that section, or they don't like the conversations taking place there.

Now, why don't we poll those posters who use HE every day, if they think that HE should stay or go? Better yet, why don't we ask the posters who never participate in the NH forum area if the NH Forum area should go?

Who took the poll?

VC put the poll up and I believe that Joynow posted later that she was surprised that it was done.

Mailou, I did not call the HE cesspool! If people want to spend their time there and feel it is contributing to the board that is fine with me. My opinion and observation is that it became the most important forum at RU and I don't think that has helped the climate of Refs. My opinion only!

You cannot "electronically" stop anyone from releasing the info...whether people at Ref's like or dislike them...

So why worry yourself over the issue any further?

I want to go fishing tomorrow..it could rain..but I aint gonna spend all night worrying about it...I'll worry about it when it rains.....

My worrying will no more stop the rain than yours will stop someone from releasing rl info...

I do understand your concerns...but fail to see what all the arguing in the world about it will solve...or even what all of the people on this forum agreeing that it is wrong...will accomplish...

using your "logic", i guess we should just close this site entirely. is that what you are suggesting?

there are people that want to discuss issues.

By no means...

Coming to an understanding that lil to nothing can be done to prevent a situation is not calling for the entire site to be closed down...

As a matter of fact...closing the site down wouldnt even prevent a situation from happening....

...dont let my opinions stop you or anyone else from discussing the matter.... Wink
