Re: Teacher's statement

Well, well, well. So Joran didn't take finals on the 30th, since they were a week later. LOL...thought he aced them that day after being out all night. It's no wonder he got sick, staying out all night drinking and gambling during school has to take it's toll on a body.

It appears I've learned this.
When an English speaking teacher gives a statement in English, that get's translated and written down in Dutch, only to then get translated back to written English again....
The statement fails any test of grammar.

Maybe that has something to do with the "Blog Wars."

Maybe...maybe they just couldn't answer things for knot over there, so he wants our opinion now.

There was a discussion a while back about the distinction bewteen "exams" and "finals" Did Joran say he had to get home for exams or final exams? When Julia confirmed it -- same question.
wrt Joran -- not that it matters a whole lot, as we've seen the kid will lie when it's easier to tell the truth.

Why do all these statements look:
Am I the only person that sees the grayish outline behind the text?
I do have my glasses on.

JD, there was a great poster at Scrux who had links to JVdS's school and test dates. That is all still there.
Finals were not till the next week, but iirc, there was an AP test that day?
AP tests are not graded locally nor are they given letter grades.

Thanks Jenny, maybe scrux is where I saw it. There was a .pdf I believe from the ISA showing the dates of the tests, etc.
I dont remember the AP test though. IIRC the conclusion of the discussion was that Joran must have been talking about plain ole exams rather than final exams, which I'm not buying either. What kind of class gives an exam a week before the final? Again, though, it doesnt matter a whole lot since so much of what he said is known now to be a lie.
What interests me more is how did Julia "confirm" it and what exactly did she confirm.

I dont live in aruba but in the states we have what you call end of grade exams given by the state. Usually called diff names in diff states. For instance in VA they are called S.O.L's which I think is funny, here in my state they are called E.O.G (end of grade). My kids take those, THEN take FINAL exams given by the school for their classes. Perhaps it was similiar in aruba.

Hmmmm....I don't know. I do know that the first bogus document that BFN released was appaarently done to discredit Julia.

I can't find the AP test right now, JD. But damn if I don't believe I remember that from Scrux. Or maybe esb checked on it and it was not on that date?
BTW, keep in mind that there are less than 130 students at that school. VERY tiny school.
ETA: JD, here it is. This in the info from esb's link to the school's website from May 05:
| Quote: | | AP EXAMS We have several 12thgrade students taking Advanced Placement Exams (AP) during the next two weeks. These exams culminate a yearlong course of a more rigorous level at ISA in AP Spanish Language and in AP English Literature. If they place well the students can be awarded credit by the university they will attend. On the day our students sit for the external AP exams, they will also be given in the U.S. schools and international schools worldwide. The exams are shipped to the U.S. to the College Board for scoring |

JD--just checked the AP tests schedule for 05. The test dates are same as SATs, so it could not have been an AP exam, either. They are not given during the week, anyhow. What was I thinking?

Regular classes. |
Indeed not final exams, but regular classes where exams can be taken by one or another teacher for one or another subject.
Proefwerken, SO's, Examens en eindexamen are all translated to tests/exams in english, aren't they?
ETA; I think I explained this already....
