my question was "do the stylists love their clients?" but you answered it. in both directions it is just pretend to love for self preservation.

However, I do think I can answer this silly question. I moved around a lot when my kids were in school. They all graduated different high schools in different states. The schools were public but good ones in affluent neighborhoods where at least 90% of the students took college prepatory classes and were looking forward to going on to college after hs graduation. Mtn Brook was not one of them.
It was a way that they teased each other about going to hair styling school if someone's grades dropped or if they were not in the top classes. High school kids can be just plain mean and they do look down on certain professions.
Hair styling is one of them. Some high schools even offer the hair styling courses for those who are not going to a university. Yes, those students are made fun of in some parts of the south. Hopefully, people mature and realize that someone has to do those jobs that others consider demeaning. It is an honest way to make a living.

lol NO that is the stupidest and most WRONG thing ive heard on here lately (no offense to you that thread made it sound like it was true) but sriously thats OPPOSITE. people in the south LOVE their stylists and its so not a "beneath" anyone job, people are just trying to make beth look bad again lol but if she was a social climber like they portray her she would NOT be looking down at her stylist but would be buddies because thats what people who consider their stylists important do (aka rich people most of the time). if natalee were working there she wouldnt be like a floor model these are nice salons but theyre small and this is a town in alabama, come ON she would be a receptionist or something so i think thats where the "too good" thing started.

Beth is not rich and from all I have seen of her shows no class whatsoever. She would be just the type to look down her nose at people.

yah but yall want to make her into a hideous social climber right? lol then she would SO have her stylist on the christmas card list.

ive never heard anyone say anything about a stylist being beneath them they are WAY too important to most women to look down on lol a good stylist is VERY valuable and they know it

her highness.

natalee's mom is obsessed with social status and image. she would not want anything her daughter does to reflect badly on her highness.

do you love all your co worker or clients if you have any?silly question to even try to reply to-do we love everyone whos our clients-?--i did it with humor -did it go over your head - or should i say hair? if someone is a snob they will be one to most people -hairdressers are part therapist and not magicians-bring in a pic of a beauty with full head of hair and you have stringy yuck hair and say -make me look like this! yeah -we deserve respect for not laughing out loud !most love our work --does not mean we have to love all of you nor do you have to personally love us or send a xmas card --just tip well -lol.

A true southern lady is known for grace and kindness, no matter the size of her bank account.

i dont think you do if she acted like she was better than her stylist that would be a RED FLAG shes not in the league with her friends and if shes as much of a "wannabe" as you want her to be shed NEVER do that that would be total social suicide for her pruposes.

they would NEVER do that real money or old money doesnt call attention to it in public youre supposed to KNOW who they are without saying only nouveau rich flaunt it.

There's another thread about Natalee's second job in a beauty salon in Mountain Brook where she allegedly would have earned very good tips --- but that thread has derailed into quote stacks and explanations about graduation tassell colors, so I will pose my question HERE instead of that original thread:

http://www.refugeesunleashed.net/viewtopic.php?t=4057&start=150

WHY are Southerners embarressed about hair stylists?

Are Southerners ABOVE the individuals who are paid to preen them?
WHY in hell is Beth and Dave and all of Natalee's supposed friends in Mountain Brook embarressed about Natalee Holloway, at age 17/18 doing manual labor in an upscale beauty shoppe in Mountain Brook?

This is ridiculous, what the hell is going on anyway?

Are beauticians considered second class citizens, or WHAT??

Who says southerners are embarrassed about hair stylists? Why does this have to become a 'southern' thang just because the family was from a southern state?

Beth and Jug make Southerners look bad. As I started listening to this woman's shit, I was willing to totally believe the Southern jokes until I realized that some of the posters I like are also from the south. How was I to know?

Just because we are from the South does not make us all alike. Some are nice people and some are trashy. Some are rude and some are gracious. No one in my family owns a gun. We don't deer hunt. No one in my family is married to a blood relative.
I laugh at some of the southern (red neck) jokes. They are funny but pretty extreme too. I think some of those same jokes might apply to certain parts of Michigan,Ohio,W Va,Southern Indiana and Pa. Maybe some other parts of the country too.
We do have our share of upscale hair salons around too. I don't know why anyone would think that the people who work in those places aren't pretty classy people.
Lots of people from the north are always moving south. We must not be too bad.

Several years ago, one of my Mountain Brook friends refused to let her daughter work in a department store in the summer. Her daughter was a very "chic", well dressed young lady and wanted to work to buy more clothes. (I guess two closets were not enough Wink ) Her mom told her that was degrading and no daughter of hers would be doing "manual labor."

She got her a job in her office so that she would be doing something "worthwhile." The daughter graduated from college with a degree is fashion merchandising and has worked as a buyer for this particular store for several years. Yes, she makes much more money than her mom. Oh, the irony. Laughing
