What you describe is very characteristic of bipolar disorder. Beth does not speak like a grieving mother suffering from the loss of a child. She speaks like she is a politician promoting her campaign and her wallet. Her concept of special rights in foreign countries for US citizens is ridiculous.
Symptoms of mania - the "high" of bipolar disorder
Increased physical and mental activity and energy.
Heightened mood, exaggerated optimism and self-confidence.
Excessive irritability, aggressive behavior.
Decreased need for sleep without feeling tired.
Grandiose delusions, inflated sense of self-importance.
Racing speech, racing thoughts, flight of ideas.
Impulsiveness, poor judgment, distractibility.
Reckless behavior.
In the most severe cases, delusions and hallucinations.
When Karen Janssen wrote to the Justice Department to ask if Beth was related to Hitler, it might have been code for "She is a nut. We need help."

Hi Flap, I don't think Rene is dumb, I think that she probably doesn't follow this case. I doubt Joe T or JQK have ever been on a show with Rene, and besides that, Joe T lingers in some people's thoughts.
My favorite mistake of Rene was:
| Quote: | | Beth Twitty, Natalee's mother filed that lawsuit with her husband. |
Notice Beth corrected the Taccopina/Kelly mistake, but left this one alone.

Isn`t there anyone in the Big US of A, with so many journalists etc, who actually will ask Beth for once and for all the right questions?Or will do some investigative report about the MB side? I really don`t understand that...........What is it with that? I really can`t fathom that.... |
The problem is that JOURNALISTS aren't involved in this at all--it's talking head, blow-dried bimbos and mimbos working for companies that are only interested in the almighty dollar, and don't have a journalistic bone in their bodies, nor an ounce of integrity.
Interestingly, I was watching a documentary about Edward R. Murrow last week, and he was lamenting what would happen when the networks became more concerned with money and ratings than with news and integrity. He envisioned that when that happened, "The carnival would take over totally and the journalists would be in jeopardy."

I really think she has some nerve to say Natalees situation is some new uncharted terriroty. It isnt. People go missing, are killed, mugged or victims of crimes in other countries all the time. They have to accept the legal avenues and reprocutions available from those countries. Period. If you dont like the laws of a country then dont go there. Plain and simple if you ask me.
If beth thinks she has enough for any type of legal action she has to go to aruba and ask for it. Natalee went to aruba of her own free will, with beth and jugs signed permission to do so. That is the legal venue for this. The reason she wont, is she knows she has no case there either. |
YES YES YES..... eeewwww...this crap makes me so mad
Now..how dumb is Renee "Beth Twitty, Natalee's mother filed that lawsuit with her husband."....her husband?? LOL>> no Renee, her ex husband
Beth wants this to be part of a "bigger picture" meaning more love bowls...maybe her mug on tv yapping away...
this is simply so stupid...as if Natalee was some brave groundbreaking explorer going into uncharted territory..
One would think that her daughter was shot up into space in capsule rather than hopping on a plane with a bunch of other spoiled brats to go on an all booze included party trip LOL
Sounds like Renee is "stuck on stupid' and not very interested in this really, just one more silly story to record...

Maybe we can find a college journalism student who is willing.
Know any who are here in the US from the Netherlands studying for a year? Find out if there are any interning for CNN, who want to make a mark in their career?

I didn't think she was so dumb, as disinterested in what Beth had to say. Her questions were obviously scripted by someone else.
Shecut Beth off a few times, like she wasn't even listening. That aspect was especially entertaining.

Today Beth seemed relaxed as though she just returned from a spa visit. I didn't notice any of the symptoms of mania.
Being bi-polar is no excuse for bad behavior.

seems to me I remember someone who is a member of this board claiming to be a psychologist and could look at photos and give a professional opinion on the dynamics of the photos. She even claimed to be from Birmingham. Wonder if she will look at this tape of Beth and give us her "professional" opinion?

I despise her for how she has treated everyone in this case. From Natalee's father - NOT EVEN CALLING HIM - to vds , to aruba, to the only people who could help - ALE - to harming the investigation, to trampling over their laws and justice system and leaking things that may have helped police in their investigation if kept quiet, to calling for the world to go after the kalpoes, for saying that the aruban justice system waited for Katrina to release k2j KNOWIGN THE DATE HAD BEEN SET MONTHS BEFORE ! to her callous disregard for other missing ppls families or murdered childrens parents. Did you see her on greta when Taylor Behls mom was on? Not one word of sympathy, and it was the same day that Taylors body was found. Taylors mom made a point of sympathizing with beth. She has surrounded herself with thugs, she is a woman who is more interested in vengeance than the truth right now, and she has zero respect for anyone who doesnt agree with her or give her what she wants. She was given the "love bowls" at the governors evening in honor of missing children. THere were poor families there that couldnt manage to get a search or 2 minutes of air time from the media re their children, and certainly couldnt afford to fund a damned thing. She did NOT offer to share them. I know this for a fact. She took both love bowls home with her. How do you think those families felt???? All for beth. No compassion for others who were in the same situation. Even other members of natalee's family were horrified she didnt offer to share it with the other moms and dads who truly have no resources. Who, with any heart, would accept those love bowls when the families there who had no support no media attention and no hope of getting 1 search let alone dozens together were in front of them? I also had no respect for the governors wife but that is another story.
She was a bitch before natalee went missing and she is a bitch now. Showing her emoitions re natalee isnt the issue for me. I have no idea how many tears she has shed privately, or if she is able to publicy share them bc she fears breaking down on tv. Not my business and i assume she has shed many a tear over her. Cause i dont like what it makes me if i assume otherwise, and i can't know, im not there with her. and FTR i dont want to be.
So yes i despise her. I dont care what she looks like, i dont care if she misses natalee..i think she does. I care that she uses and abuses everyone around her and has the compassion of a rattle snake for human beings and their lives.
 |
Well, thanks, at least, for the decent post.
I don't know about the "love bowls" governor's meeting; I don't know what all the factors were - you said they were given to her.
Look, everyone is going to feel anyway they have to. ... it is just SO MUCH venting it doesn't seem to really be about BHT, but about something else.
Please go on. I just put in what I felt I had to. |
I've followed this case from the beginning, and the Governor's love bowl incident is what turned me. Those who posted w/ me on CTV will remember that I was on the fence, and I really tried hard to find logical explanations for Beth's behaviors.
The auction was a turning point, but the love bowl business at the vigil for missing children...well, that was just beyond belief and put me over the top.
Yes, it happened, and I remember the details quite well. It was a vigil set up by Patsy Riley, the gov. of AL's wife; a candlelight vigil that was to honor ALL the missing from Alabama.
According to the newspaper, there was not one, but TWO love bowls set up for the Holloway/Twittys. (Dave and Robin were in attendance as well.) Mrs. Riley explained to the plebians that (paraphrased)...Natalee's was a special case because she went missing in a foreign country. Mrs. Riley commented also that the love bowls were to be used in any way that the H/Ts "saw fit."
This was in, I believe, Nov. or Dec. of 2005. So you have this event...and all those families attending...and the love bowls are presented to the H/Ts. (And while I am ranting: why TWO love bowls??? Could not, for once, she and Dave have put aside their differences and just divide the proceeds from ONE love bowl?)
Would it not have been the decent thing for the H/Ts to have gracefully said...let's share. Or, even MORE decent, for them to have said...we have been so fortunate with all the support, media and donations...we want the other families to have these donations.
I lost respect for Beth after that event, and no longer tried to find explanations for her actions. There just aren't any, imo.
How she ever managed the wherewithal to walk past those other families while clutching her Love Bowl is beyond me.

oh boy, tonight I know which side of the fence feels right to me!
just once, I'd like to hear something from her like:
"in my mind I always see Natalee wearing this _ _ _ _ outfit because she loved that color
I find myself buying _ _ _ _ at the grocery store because it was her favorite,
even tho no one else in the house cares for it
I think of her every time I hear the song _ _ _ _ by _ _ _ _
because that was her favorite band
_ _ _ _ was her favorite holiday because _ _ _ _"
ooooooooh & the love bowls?
for some reason I thought that was a loose term for the various donations
re Beth/Dave putting aside their differences that night and/or sharing w/ other families ...
it's clear to me that Dave could do that but Beth would not, not then ... not ever
I had no idea re the circumstances behind that term love bowl ...
I have to go now, I am way too angry & need to calm down

The video is linked on the first page of this thread.
It seemed to me Renee cut Beth off, because she just wasnt interested in what she had to say.
The interview was very brief. I have not seen Renee before today. Perhaps that's her regular pattern for an interview.

probably not. I posted the article of the "vigil" on a separate thread for love bowls.

Re: CBS The Early Show Aug 7, 2006 FULL TRANSCRIPT
I saw the interview when it aired and noticed that she did not take any time to say what she did miss about her daughter.
The "you know's" didn't surprise me tho. It's a bad habit several folks have. We attended a funeral last year in Hueytown and Brother Steve was doing the sermon part....oh it was difficult hearing all his "you knows".
My hub mentioned it to his buddy who is part of Steve's congregation. Later he told us at the following church service he counted Steve saying "you know" over 150 times and the service only lasted 45 minutes!!
While Beth lives in the same county as I do, this never "hit" me like some of the other missing people have over the years from my state.
I do recall much more emotion with many of the grieving families.
This month will mark the 3rd year of Heaven LaShae Ross being gone
http://www.findheaven.net/ and she did get some local media attention for awhile.
And I will never forget "Where is Julie Love?". Such a sad case, and her boyfriend was being blamed (he was totally innocent). While she was missing from the Buckhead area of Georgia, I drove by the billboard everyday that was up in Center Point, AL.
There are so many unknowns for so many families out there.
From my perspective, my local news has done more talk of Taylor Hicks playing down at Workplay with Elliott Yamin Monday night then about the recent news of the lawsuit being dropped in the NH case.
We still have the grandparents and the grandson missing, and just this week had our 69th homicide of the year. The headline on the newspaper aimed at our African American community said "the black on black crime has got to end".
It would be beneficial if there truly was a legitimate task force set up in every state for their missing people, so that no one goes unnoticed or forgotten.

And another thing, in the beginning I thought; Ow well maybe it`s because i`m Dutch and we are not used to these kind of media circusses, and especially not with parents or missing children. In the US it`s happening a lot there are lots of missing people and children there, so maybe it`s just me who see Beth as a biatch!
Not so, the majority of Americans i encountered, are thinking the same as me, because they also never saw such a vile person/mother of a missing child who behaves like Beth does and did , that speaks for me for itself, so it isn`t only me...... and hasn`t got anything to do with nationality at all....... |
