Blur (Pax)

What's your favorite Blur album? I have only heard the one that has Song 2 on it. Self titled I think but not their first album by any means. I want to pick up another one, don't know which one to get next, can't buy them all...(yet)

I'll venture a random guess: Modern Life Is Rubbish? for no particular reason as I haven't heard it.

For later Blur I'd suggest 13. Tender is one of my favorite of their ballads. This album is a response to Damon Albarn and Justine Frischman (of Elastica) breaking up and has great emotional songs. It also shows Blur's influence by Pavement (one of the most underrated American bands).

For ealier Blur, many would say Park Life, but I'd suggest The Great Escape. It's a concept album about stereotypes and mass thinking and British vacation get-aways. The song The Universal sounds like a lost Kinks classic. It was released at the height of the Britpop mania, at same time as Oasis' What's The Story Morning Glory. Oasis outsold them at the time, but Blur remains a more fascinating band.
