The Big Story Apr 1 Transcript

Could this be the last search in Aruba, is it about to come to an end.
Bill Keating in Aruba:
On Wednesday they began again, tearing Aruba apart looking for its most famous missing visitor, Natalee Holloway. They say this time could be the last time, the last desparate search. Fo 10 months her disappeaerance has haunted people the world over.
A new theory was that she was out of control when she left with three young men from Carlos & Charlie's.
The sand dunes just below the lighthouse is yet again the focus of an intense hunt for clues. A team from Holland with sonar equipment and cadaver dogs has been there for several days
Two independent witnesses gave similar detailed accounts of early morning activities in the north shore by the sand dunes...it could have been the burial of a body or like D.C. Dompig has stated, the re-burial of a body.
In this exclusive footage you can see authorities concentrating their efforts in the rocks and dunes. To many on this island after so many dead ends, there's a feeling of finality to this latest chase for clues.
There is local speculation that this is the last effort
Dave Koch:
I think so, I can't imagine what else anybody can do..we've spent a lot of resources, they've done everything they could.
While the D.C. Police CHief vows to keep the search going, Chris LeJuez feels this may be coming to a close.
Chris:
They don't have physical evidence tying the suspects to the case, so it would seem there's nowhere to go.
Jamie:

Michelle, you saw the story that Keeting filed from Aruba, do you get a sense that this investigation is wrapping up
Michelle:
It seems that way, they're trying their absolute best. Some major mistakes were made in the beginning, but they've been diligent...it's almost a year, this is an all or nothing proposition now
Jamie:
We're looking for Natalee, dead or alive, they're searching for a body If we were in the Us would any charges have been filed
Mickey Sherman:
I don't think so, there's no reason for their arrest even. To be the last persons to be seen with her are not grounds for arrest or charges....The father gave good lawyer advice to his son and his friends, that's not grounds for arrest or charges either.
Jamie:
What about the inconsistent statements?

There is a Dutch tv production doing a show to try to find Natalee.
Lise:
When we're down to reality tv to find her, it's desperation.
Jamie:
In addition to finding Natalee, Joe the evidence that could be found ..there could be forensics found that might be useful, but what have we lost in 10 months
Joe:
This case should have been solved within 24 hours...it's not because of incompetence or lack of knowledge, it was a major coverup from Day 1. Crimes like this are happening all the time in ARuba, they're not enforcing the drug, prostituon and other laws there ....
Jamie;
When the 3 boys put the blame on two innocent security guards...that threw the police off for sure, for several days while they kept those black security guards in jail
Joe:
Dompig the Chief alleges that the suspects were being monitored , wire tapped, they were reading their e-mails...if they were doing that.why do you arrest two innocent black males and keep them in jail. That was a conflict from Day 1

Heli, you do such a GREAT job!
I can't believe 'Joe Blow' said the case should have been solved in 24 hours, and somehow he knows it was a major cover-up.

I thought it was very revealing when Mickey Sherman muttered, the caveat "I may be in the minority, but..." while he was talking about there being no grounds to arrest the suspects. Struck me that when one walks into the Fox studios it's clear the prevailing message is -- lynch the boys and bash Aruba.

And Aruba doesn't enforce any of it's laws against prostituion, drugs etc etc...  We all knew Joe Matthews was a moron when he boldly stated "these crimes go on all the time in Aruba"... shit for brains

What crime? There's no evidence of a crime. This is a missing persons case.

I know this is a bit OT, but it drives me nuts.
Why is it that the TH's always have to state that a person was black in any news reported. Not only on this case but almost every single news report. If the security guards were white would they have said "they kept those two white security guards detained"? We all know they would only be refered to as security guards. Why the need to point out their race?
As my three year old nephew would say "HELLO" they are/were security guards period. Their race should not matter.

Because it's inflamatory. All part of the Rupert Murdoch strategy for infotainment shows. Fox has the ratings; other cable networks follow suit. (Calling the security guards, Black security guards, has been one of my pet peeves, too!)
