Your high school class
Has anyone here taken a good look at your high school classmates from your graduating year and thought......., these people look old. I can't believe it's been that long?
I was recently sent some pics of a lot of folks I graduated with. It was VERY surprising...a few look exactly the same...1 or 2 look better....but a whole lot of them just look weirdly like I remember my parents' friends looking This is not good or bad it's just odd to me. Surreal.
Actually, I would say that the ones who look good look *really* terrific, mostly the "girls"...not many of the guys look the same, I would not recognize them if I saw them on the street.
I guess what gets me is just how it seems like yesterday, and I can't believe how just 10 years can change so much. I could predict the ones who are still single, the ones who are really succesful, and the ones who have 6 kids. That was nice. Oh, and their kids are just beautiful. That's the best thing about being sent a load of pics..seeing all those beautiful kids. Wow.

Also, I meant to say that I am still (barely) in my 20's, and it is just amazing how many of the "it can't happen to me" things I have seen old classmates go through....it's really humbling. Those who passed away, those who have lost children, and even in our 20's those who have had to deal with cancer and things like that, or especially sad, those who have had kids who have had to go through that.
It makes me rethink missing high school because what is worse, teenage angst or adult angst?

Not that old, I used to watch Donna Reed (reruns!) on Nickelodeon.
I'm telling you the truth, it's karma. The men I graduated with who were hot stuff in high school are almost all of the ones who are still not married, no kids, no stable job...the nerds are looking good! One guy is a medical physicist, he was short in high school and had a baby face so he wasn't too hot with the girls, but NOW he is a man with a 6 figure job, pretty wife, full head of hair and still has that baby face. *snicker* The quarterback/cocky bully has lost all his looks, and evidently, women. I only laugh because he was so mean.
It's really sad seeing who has passed away. They were all nice.
It's something I want to explain to my niece. Don't chase the wrong people/things, and good things DO come in time.

lol--i guess reruns on nicolodean are just as good ! i remember laughing as she said that to me . CALLING ME A mixture of donna reed and ERICA KANE!! funny as hell especially after a glass of wine ---. we had 4 girls who traveled across usa to meet for this reunion. we were all best friends in hs and after. we all moved away .one i seen last year as we met at universal theme park -we had not seen since reunion. her mom had alzeimers and was with her ---i pushed the wheel chair with her and we listened to the storys she told us --she remembered the past but not the present so they were very accurate! WE TOLD HER REMEMBER WHEN YOU WENT TO WORK AND ASKED IF WE HAD BOYS IN HOUSE ? SHE SAID YES--WE SAID WELL WE DID !LOL!!SHE SAID SHE REMEMBERED ASKING THAT ! OH- I LOOK MORE LIKE ERICA THAN DONNA !

I recently had a friend from hs look me up on myspace. I had posted about our dance team and cheer squad on the myspace forum and thats how he found me. He sent me a message and I thought "Whose that old guy messaging me?". Mind you this guy had tats all over, peircings, and well wasnt grown up last time i saw him. Now hes in a suit and tie, married with kids and owns a house
Then again, Im married with 5 kids, own a house and teach hahaha.

I just still feel like I could wake up tomorow and be back in high school. Do you ever run into someone from school in the grocery store and mutter under your breath "Oh, shit, there's Vera?" I will say that 10+ years does a lot, and I see people out occasionally that are thrilled to see me, people who wouldn't have cared less in high school, but are happy to see someone they went to school with. I feel the same way, I guess it is nostalgia...I did not attend my 2 reunions so far, no particular reason other than I didn't want to pay the money and attend anything formal, I had a newborn one time, and a private reason for not attending the 5 year reunion..it wasn't a bad reason, but it was sad.
So I've got HS on the mind because now people are emailing me...I'm generally not gossipy and have not kept up nor cared about who did what after high school but that's changed some after having a daughter, I enjoy seeing everyone's kids, and am envious of those who have 3 or 4 or more. I want more, I need to get on with it! It's also a riot to see a few of the couples that married, people who were so incompatible in high school (you'd think) have gone on to stay married..then there are the high school sweethearts who are still together..,and the d*cks who are still single. I may actually go to my next reunion.
I especially love showing my husband the pics of my exes. Actually......seeing some of them has made me appreciate my husband more.

LTF, you crack me up!
I've only seen two people I went to high school with in recent years. One was a guy I had a HUGE crush on back in the day. He was soooooooooo hot back then...Italian...gorgeous hair, deep brown eyes, unbelievable body...mmm, mmm, mmm!
Today he's bald and kinda pudgy.
The other one was a girl I used to skip class with so we could run out and partake of illegal substances. She's now the mother of 5 and a born-again Christian.

seem like only yesterday we all looked like babies.. It was only 6 years, but it makes a HUGE difference |
I saw a few girls er..women who look SO much like they did back then, still so pretty. I can't really describe what group they were in, they were not the snobby snooty "we think we're IT" crowd but they were fairly well liked and moderate partiers...a lot of the ones in the snooty crowd look the same as in not the same as they did back then, but like they came from the same cookie cutter and are all on the same diet, tanning bed, hair bleaching, face painting, routine. They look a good 10 years older, but if you thought they really WERE 10 years older they'd look, eh, moderately ok. But not good for our age. If they didn't tan to death and chose a flattering haircolor for their own self rather than that "Bleach me because I've got to be BLONDE", they'd be better. The people who were rode hard in high school still look so. I loooove seeing people who have little kids that look just like them, it's adorable. Our valedictorian has a girl who looks just like her, awwww. One of the really pretty ones that I was referring to who still looks very very good is really gorgeous, she has black hair, olive skin, brown eyes and she has twin girls who are blonde and blue eyed They're cute too, and they are hers, but it's like whoa... they look nothing alike.
One guy who looks better now was a short fella in high school who got drunk at a party and woke up in a bathtub naked and discovered his head had been shaved into a mohawk and bleached while he was passed out. LMAO...he's tall now, active in church/born again, and has the cutest daughters- he married a really pretty girl who was 6 years older than us and looks like a model.
It's kind of weird to be gossiping about people that no one knows, lol! But I have been really enjoying the pics for some reason when I suffered from CGAS until pretty much now as to whatever happened to most of my classmates (couldn't give a sh*t). What's weird is people have been telling me that so and so has been asking about me, or wants to get my number etc, when we barely spoke in high school.

This is hilarious thread.. and its SOOOOOOOO true!! Everytime I visit my parents (where I also graduated school) I run into someone that immediately recognizes me... and Im sitting there thinking.. WHO IS THIS OLD dude/lady that knows me???
Most of the time.. even after they tell me their name.. I am still stuck with trying to figure out who they are.. I did the whole cheerleader and prom queen, etc.. crap so I guess more people knew ME than I knew them.. but for them to remember me and pick me outta a crowd 100 years later is just bizarre.
The freakiest thing along these lines happened last winter when I had taken my mom to "urgi-care" place because she had twisted her ankle.. I walked in first to get a wheel chair so my mom didnt have to walk into the place....and this nurse calls me by my maiden name.. Im like.. uh... yeah..? and trying to figure out who the heck this lady is.. and she says.."Remember me from 1st Grade..Mrs. Dehoff's class?"
I hadnt seen this person since 1st grade...and somehow she recognized me.. it was beyond bizarre.
