VC is dancing and laughing :) pic of sweetheart

dancing dude dancing dude dancing dude

got off the phone with the vet. Sweetheart is eating like a pig!!! she peed in the litter, showing no nerve damage due to the tail amputation on the bladder. She meows for attention.

And they said she showed "some tenderness" at the incision - the repair of the pelvis and hipbone, in that she tensed when they touched it, so they gave her an extra pain killer on top of her pain patch. they dont want her to feel any pain Smile

im so HAPPY

need to find a big crate.. like a newfoundland dog crate/cage. where she can walk around, have lots of space but not get into anything and not jump on anything..or off.

she might be released tomorrow Shocked but i want to be able to get a crate and not keep her in a little cage. She will have to be on cage rest for a few weeks. She is screwed together and plated like barbaro

guys, my biggest fear with my cats was a surgery. Butterscotch back in september cost a fortune for icu care and it was "only" medical. I had no illusions that the cost for a surgery there would not be out of sight. They are the best. Just look at their services and facilities. http://www.avah.on.ca/

My main vet is the director of general practice, while sweethearts was lara jamieson and her surgeon the orthopedic specialsit, and dr artne is my mystery illness vet. He doesnt like me much Smile i talk to much for him and actually dont want to follow protocols.

I was 99% certain she would have to be put down unless Lara totally screwed up on viewing the xrays and it was cage rest alone treatable. never in my wildest dreams did i imagine that I could get the surgery done. She said 3000 to 3500 and i think it is more. No idea, i just threw whatever i had at them lol. they bent over backwards to save sweetheart Smile

I still feel a little guilty using the money i had and kay had, for her, especially needing to get a car on the road, repaired and safetied..but i couldnt lose her when ..

damn im happy Very Happy

I'm so glad you're happy. It does my heart good to see you so happy. You deserve it. I would have done the same as you with the $ had I been in your situation. Things have a way of working themselves out, and i bet you'll have a car up on the road & running in no time. Kiss sweet Sweetheart for me when you see her!

hehe, well i send kisses every 2 hours, im sure they are regretting the fact they have 2 nurses assigned to her, and are open 24/7. i keep signing off to call and see how she is. last update was "she is still sleeping" Smile

im sort of controlling when it comes to my kitties Embarassed I told them that if i get a crate big enough, checking thrift shops etc, i want her home and i expect them to put a new fentanyl patch on her, and i want extra pain meds in case she needs them, and i want to be taught everything they do, cause she will be happier at home.

why should she be in hospital if its just to be in a cage. i told em, if its causae of injectable pain meds, then leave her iv catheter in. Even a dummy can push a syringe into the port. Nurse laughed..said i guess you want her home!!!

The greatest irony is that what has brought sunshine back into VC's life is something that didn't even start out as a good thing but was yet another tragedy. The Lord certainly does work in mysterious ways.

Yippy VC, what terrific news. I'm so thrilled to hear Sweetheart is coming along, and mostly that she is still alive and the hip could be repaired. God will bless you for putting an injured animal ahead of your needs. Sweetheart has had a rough life, but she was so blessed finding you to care for her. Only those of us who love animals could possibly understand how thrilled you are, and why you would put her ahead of a car for yourself.
Maybe having to babysit her for awhile, will inspire you to try to get back to your gems. It would be a great way to make money and God could be trying to tell you something here. Much love to both of you, keep us posted!

Here she is! home. she has stitches around her hip, and then another set down her lower back where the tail was removed and some reconstructive work was done. The little patch is a pain patch.

8 weeks cage rest, only out for cuddles and monitoed on the bed, but kay had some wire netting in her garage and is building a 4 foot square cage, complete with a chute like low wheelchair ramp to get to the 2nd level so she cant jump to it or off it but has some more variety
