thanks heli. murphy's law seems to have taken over the house. I always worried about linus though. He was so curious, so loveable and so adventurous. And so special. He licked tears off me, and when the feral kitten was so sick on arrival he wrapped his body around her to keep her warm and comfort her. nick named the cow because he looked like the markings of a cow..then cause he got ummm hefty. Discovered he would have 3 or 4 breakfasts on his promenades into the back woods to houses on the other side.

I probably wont be on muchtoday, just to check for any problems. I cant dig the grave, i am not strong enough. just tried, so am going to see if anyone is actually home around here who can help.

on the sad but sweet side, i found Brian was home.. a bit of an eccentric who told me all these things are happening because mercury is in retrograde-well i dont know astrology, but if its true im hibernating. Anyway, as he was digging, linus was wrapped in my best towel, and gentle giant mittsy came out. He walked over..sniffed the towel lay down and put his paw over it, looked up and meowed.

He stayed with linus until he was buried. sort of like an honor guard. Crying or Very sad

Oh VC, I'm so terribly sorry. Tears are streaming down my face after reading about your sweet Linus. I could actually see him running and running after you got him out of that cage. My heart broke for you. With so many cats of my own, I will be a basketcase when any one of them goes.

I so wish there was something I could do, something to make it better for you. You are such a wonderful, gentle soul and to be on the sidelines and not be able to help is painful.

Hang in there, VC. There will be good days again, but I, like Heli, know all too intimately that it doesn't seem that way to you right now.

Take time to mourn. Also know that your are loved by all of us on the board.

thanks all, its great to know you care..finally got out of bed since the others need their food too Smile I know linus would be saying "mommy dont cry, you find another little boy who needs a home! " knowing linus he is scouring the woods with his wings, for a stray and will tell them where to go Smile

I lost a very special family member today, but at least i had the joy of him for nearly a year. Maybe God wanted him at the rainbow bridge to help welcome those who didnt have good lives or parents to wait for and are scared. if so i understand, but we needed him here too!.

I may be out of line here..not putting my beliefs on anyone. But would like to share what I always personally liked to think when I lost a beloved pet. I think of a small child being taken from their parents..dying far before their time and God sending someones beloved pet..whom you raised and taught to love humans...to comfort the child in heaven. Its a nice thought.

VC,

I've been in tears all day worrying about you and grieving for little Linus.

I'm so glad to hear you've gotten out of bed and thank God for this board which keeps you in touch and not isolated. I can't tell you how many times having to get up and care for my other babies has kept me from sinking down and vegetating after one of my kitties has died.

I told you earlier about our Mr. Dithers dying and how sad a time that was for us. Well, about 4 months later Dad found little Dash in a parking lot while checking into a motel one night. How strange that little Dash has all the mannerisms and habits of Dithers who was Dad's boy. Except for the difference in color, Dash is a clone of Dithers. So yes, your little Linus is out there and he will come back to you some day in another way, just as Dithers came back to us in the form of little Dashy-doodle.

Thats him in the avatar, the day i got him. He was my "treat" because my doctor had ordered a kitten to make me laugh- i only had the older cats. Gave me an excuse to rescue a young one. 4 months-in the pound since birth. Well he definitely did. And that naughty grin on his face and ready to go look, was his every day personality. Until he tired himself out and then would flop all over you nuzzling and cuddling. And if I wasn't doing interesting things he would go help neighbors with their chores. Sittting on and garding the wheelbarrow when moving mulch, helping plant flowers, and rake leaves. He helped Kay remove the 40 feet of tree. All the limbs being dragged he sat on to be sure they didnt run away!!!

ah sorry guys, im babbling

thanks everyone. You are my friends/family here..and more understanding than family. Kay called my parents for me..lol..shes 4 hours from me but calls them bc my parents dont like to talk to me when i am upset or crying and get more afraid of me going into a "funk" or blackhole and can be less than understanding because of their fear..

they just dont understand, but oh well...my friends on the board do and that means the world. I just want to tell you all, how much you mean to me. Far more than you might imagine. Times like this show how special you are, and well you make a difference between feeling alone and desperate while facing the loss, and cared about.

anyway.. thank you. especially for understanding my guys aren't just "cats" but essentially my children. Means the world to me.

I just read your post, VC, I am so sorry. My purrayers are for you and Linus.

They will not go quietly;
the pets who've shared our lives,
In subtle ways they let us know,
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think,
we hear a noise at the door.
Or step back when we drop a
tasty tidbit on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place,
the food bowl used to be.
And sometimes coming home at
night, we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring,
new friends and a new food dish to fill,
that one place in our hearts
belongs to them and always will.
