O/T Thank you RatPatrol
As someone who had an internet "stalker" a few years ago, I can say it is a very scary thing and never doubt that it can happen to anyone. RU is the only board I felt safe enough to join since then and until recently I had no reason to regret that decision.
Then, all the crap started and my stress level began to rise. I don't post a lot and there was little reason to believe I would be drug into the situation, but, stranger things have happened. My "stalker" thought Stephen King was the anti Christ and because I am such a huge fan I must be one of the demonic minions sent to destroy the world. Crazy huh?
I pm'd RatPatrol asking for advice on my internet security. I am not a well known poster and though we had never "talked", RP was kind enough to respond (more than once) and explain things in a simple manner and I now feel I am as safe as I can make myself on the www.
RatPatrol, you have my utmost respect and thanks. I think you should post the info you gave me for all to see and maybe some of the other not-so-tech-saavy folks can feel more secure or take steps in that direction. You are a class act, RP, and I appreciate it very much!

Yes, I would love to see all of RP's advice. Also would like to see what the other posters here do to protect their private info, other than not disclosing specific real-life info.

Rat Patrol is one smart cookie and a fine man! He has done a lot of tech work and code writing to help us out with this board and enable us to have archives. I appreciate him tremendously.

Ratpatrol rocks!! He helped me out in posting all the timeframes and links for the Dayo stuff when I was too overwhelmed to even try and write it all down!! ETA - I didnt ask him to do that research - he just did it!
Also CRL-I am a huge King fan - as one fan to another we have this antique shop in my area that for as long as I have known has the name 'Needful Things' and because I am from the Northeast I am convinced that is where he got that idea from - probably not but everytime I go by the store I think of that book!!

I don't know you very well, RP, but you must be one helluva guy to get these plaudits, so I'm on your bandwagon.

Wow! Thank you everybody! You are way too kind !
Happy to help out where and when I can!
On the subject of computer security, I'll answer questions in PMs about it but I really don't want to post anything. It's too tricky of a subject, and there is no one right solution that will work for everyone. Better I post nothing, and if you want to ask questions just PM me. I read 'em all and respond fairly promptly.
