Thanks for the pics. I was surprised to see the last picture of the boys shooting off the guns. I wonder if this was the same night as the party with alcohol. Hasn't anyone told these kids that alcohol and guns don't mix?

Alcohol and underage drinkers don't mix.

I have this really strange question and maybe someone with camera knowledge could explain or answer it for me...ok here goes....
Why does Natalee always have " red eye " but the folks in the same picture do not?

Excellent question and quite a good observation on your part! Most digital cameras have a built in 'red eye' correction feature, but it doesn't work very well if someone's pupils are dialated.

Subjects with light colored eyes are more prone to red-eye due to the fact that they have little light-absorbing pigment in their pupils.
What you are actually seeing is the reflection of the light bouncing off the blood vessels of the retina inside the eye.

if someone is farsighted, with contacts, it would make them more susceptible to redeye. the lens for farsightedness, is a "plus" lens meaning it is a magnifying lens, it makes things seem bigger, and will make the retina more pronounced.

Red-eye is created in photos taken with a flash. The camera's flash reflects off the retina's blood vessels creating a red color
1. Ambient light level (low level causes subject's retina to open wider to admit more light, exposing the iris which is what reflects the red light.) 2. Age of subject. "The younger the subject, the wider the retina," hence the greater the red-eye effect.

So now Natalee had the retinal maturity of an 8 year old?

Also, those with light coloured eyes are more prone to red-eye because they have less pigment to absorb light, therefore light from a flash is more readily reflected (red-eye effect) in a blue eyed person than a brown eyed.
Natalee has blue eyes, correct?

I have the same thing alot of times with my camera although there`s also a red eye thingy on it, so I don`t know if it has especially to do with natalee......
I guess Hunter Williams looks cuter when he isn`t showing his "Ahh" mouth..........
There is one thing I find strange tho, normally when you are in bright light just as flash, wouldn`t someones pupils be tiny? It isn`t the case in alot of pics I noticed....

The flash happens so quickly and briefly that the pupils don't have time to adjust.

many things can effect pupil size, the retina doesnt change size, the pupil is like a camera lens, opening and closing to admit the amount of light that is needed for the eye to focus. medications, alcohol, drugs, iris color, skin color( yes skin color, has to do with the amount of meintonin), blood pressure, metabolism, all can effect pupil size, also what the person is looking at, two people with identical physical conditions sitting side by side can easily have different pupil sizes if one is looking at a white object and the other is looking at a black object.

lol, well that would explain why one of my friend's family pictures almost always have red eye! They are blue-eyed. It always made me wonder why they bother to take pictures her lovely family always looked so weird with all those red eyes!
