You're right about that. And to the extent that my comments have come across as ME judging I have to apologize for that. I was stating my beliefs and what I think it is that I'm supposed to believe. And that's what I follow. It certainly isnt up to me to say what God has in mind for anyone else.

I hope she was a toll collector at the time instead of a heavy equipment operator.

You can have your beliefs, and that is okay for you. But that is not okay for judging anything else. As I said, I believe a person's redemption comes from THEIR hearts, and is not up to judgement by any of us lowly sinners. I think that is what you are saying.

To carry this further.....I do believe in God. I do believe we have a standard to live up to. However, do I totally believe that my God is the only one? No. I believe that people believe in a "God" that keeps them in line.

Anyone that read at RWV, particularly the OT threads knew all about Vivi. I will not repost what she said, however I will say that she is a total and absolute fool to tell all her personal thoughts on a message board. People do remember!!!

I know I am not the best of examples and I cannot ever claim to be one in the future, because I know I will fail. Maybe we can let go and give each other another chance.

This sure as heck beats talking about religion.
And while I am at it- sorry to anyone that I offended. But please note- Anytime someone says that "God thinks gays are just as bad as murderers" I will come out swinging. (please don't start with the "sin is a sin" stuff ) |
"Whether people like it or not, whether it's politically correct or not, homosexuality is as much of a sin as murder."
I believe homosexuality and murder are the same as in they are both sins. Sin separates you from God. Whether it's drastic or not, it will still separate us from God.
I never said that God thinks gays are just as bad as murderers. My post didn't even come close to that. In addition, I never said that all sins are equal. Surely we can be in agreement that some sins are much, much worse than others. In fact, the Bible supports it:
1 John 5:16-17 "If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that. All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death."
Is lying a sin? Yes. Is murder a sin? Yes. Are lying and murder equal? Absolutely not. They each have their own repercussions. Will they both separate you from God? Absolutely
This was quoted several times as well:
"Why would God grant liars, murderers, adulterers, homosexuals, thieves, drunkards, and slanderers redemption?"
Like I already posted, I had a couple specific verses in mind when I wrote that sentence. I even answered the question myself. "Because of His mercy and grace."
"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." -- 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
All but lying and murdering are acknowledged in those verses. I added liars and murderers simply for comparison. I trust you don't need verses to show that lying and murder are sins? If you would like them, just ask. I will cite them for ya. The point of that paragraph was to emphasize that God can take the greatest of us sinners and give us eternal life. Why? Because of his mercy and grace. 1 Corinthians 6:11 is one of my power verses. It's a constent reminder of what I was before I was saved and what I will continue to be. I'm a sinner. I'm liar. I'm thief. I'm the scum of the Earth. However, because of God's grace, because of His mercy, I, like everyone else, have the opportunity for eternal life. God's grace is extended to all. You simply have to take it. It's a birthday present offered to us when we are born. We choose if and when we will accept and open it.
---------------------------
Sorry if I offended anyone by quoting scripture. I simply did it to show where I was coming from in my beliefs. In no way did I mean to be condescending. Usually when I say my beliefs to nonbelievers, I'm bombarded with comments about the Bible not saying that. I was trying to solve the problem before it even had the chance to come up. I sincerely apologize if I offended anyone. |
First you attack homos and preach to us that because they love, they are sinners. Then you preach to me and the board, citing hell fire brimstone, then you call me/others "nonbelievers" , then you apologize if you offended anyone. Well I can guarantee that you offended not just me, but many others. I am done.
This right here is my point people. This right here is why I left the Church.
I am happy to say that I found God again, but it surely wasn't because I went back and re-read Revelations, or followed Jennifer's advice and Re-visited "God's wrath".
People just don't get it- they pull out the sin is a sin is a sin shit- what they aren't getting is that My God Does Not View Love As a Sin. My God would not create homos just so they would be labeled as sinners for being what God made them.

Lying Opportunistic Shrew
Not that one...this one:
Will the media outlets who host Coulter ask about recent charges of plagiarism?
Summary: Now that right-wing pundit Ann Coulter has been accused of numerous instances of plagiarism, will the many media outlets on which she has made recent appearances to promote her latest book continue to provide her with a platform to shout her twisted rants, and if so, will they confront her with these charges?
The CEO of a company that developed a computer program to identify plagiarism has stated that he has found examples of "textbook plagiarism" in the latest book by right-wing pundit Ann Coulter. As an online article in the New York Post reported, John Barrie, CEO of iParadigms, ran Coulter's Godless: The Church of Liberalism (Crown Forum, June 2006) through his company's iThenticate software. In its July 2 article, the Post reported that Barrie's search found "at least three instances" of plagiarism, including these two:
A separate, 24-word string from the chapter "The Creation Myth" appeared about a year earlier in the San Francisco Chronicle with just one word change -- "stacked" was changed to "piled."
Another 33-word passage that appears five pages into "Godless" allegedly comes from a 1999 article in the Portland (Maine) Press Herald.

Ann Coulter Hits Back at 'Post' Plagiarism Accusation
July 06, 2006
By Dave Astor
Yesterday, Ann Coulter took aim at the New York Post, the newspaper that first reported alleged plagiarism in Coulter’s book Godless, as well as in her syndicated column.
In the latest installment of her column, Coulter doesn’t refute the plagiarism charges, which were based on a report conducted by John Barrie, creator of the iThenticate plagiarism-probing system.
Coulter wrote: "Once considered a legitimate daily, the Post has been reduced to tabloid status best known for Page Six's breathless accounts of Paris Hilton's latest ruttings, and headlines like 'Vampire Teen—H.S. Girl Is Out for Blood.' How crappy a newspaper is the Post? Let me put it this way: It's New York's second-crappiest paper."
Of course, the Post could hardly be "reduced to tabloid status" since it is, in fact, a tabloid.
She added: "Maybe the Post's constant harassment of me is an attempt to shake me down for protection money like they did with billionaire businessman Ron Burkle. I have sold a LOT of books—more books, come to think of it, than any writers at the New York Post." Since it was released at the beginning of June, Godless has sold more than 171,000 copies, according to Nielsen BookScan.

This is one of the most abrasive personalities out there! No wonder she has to steal others words...she is too busy trying to make money and a name for herself to come up with her own thoughts and ideas!

Pax,
Yesterday you and I tried to derail this thread about religion and discuss sex. Oh, wait a minute, I guess everyone here is religious about sex? Heck, they jumped right over us like we were not here and continued the talk and then involved ViVi in the discussion. Religion and ViVi? That is one combination and now tonight, Coulter? Religion, ViVi and Coulter are more important than sex. What is the world coming to?
