butterscotch is on the mend!
Apart from 2 days without nasty lung sounds, when i gave him the inhalation treatment this morning (i was at the door of medigas at 8 am), I could SEE his breathing relax, and then he ate half a can of fancy feast -he is spoiled when he is sick - went and washed his face, had a drink of water, at the other 1/2, and THEN went for a walk around the house! All the way around!
He is now snoring on my pillow. I talked to the vet, and he agrees the pneumonia has responded to the antibiotics, and the inhalation etc is going to help him not relapse.
Told me not to bring him in yet, why stress him. With his compromised immune system still need to keep him quiet and not stop the meds but that he expected to be thinking of a second choice of antibiotics today or worse, look at putting him down. He didnt even expect the drugs to take effect this quickly given his messed up system and the respiratory virus on top of the pneumonia.
i thought he was doing yucky yesterday, but then reminded myself that it was probably more to do with just 1 breathing treatment instead of the normal 4, than getting sicker.
So, touch wood still, but he looks like he has fought back again!

I admit to having been afraid to check for an update today for fear of bad news. But I couldn't stay away any longer. What a relief!!
VC, I am so happy for you and your baby. Having been there many times I know what an emotional roller-coaster it can be.
I do believe that you should change your avatar to either an angel or St. Francis of Assisi. Either would be most appropriate for you.

I'm so glad to read the good news! Give Butterscotch/butt a big kiss from me! I'm also glad he's not going back to the Vet right away, I think that's just extra trauma for kitties. Hopefully, you will get a chance to relax a little yourself too.

It's always a roller coaster ride when treating animals. I always take some comfort in knowing that they, unlike humans, don't have to contend with the worry and psychological burden we have when we're deathly ill.
You're doing everything possible and giving Betterscotch every chance to get past the challenge; the rest is up to him and God. Sounds like a hell of a team to me.
Thinking of you often VC. Prends courage!! Don't know how to say that in English

I'm so glad to hear that Butterscotch is improving. Do give him a "lovey" from me, and my best wishes for a speedy recovery. He means very much to you, I know.
Our extended family members (read "animals, birds, pets, etc.") give us so much and expect so little in return. I owe much to those furry and feathered friends who have filled my life with much happiness, humour, comfort, and just plain companionship when I need it the most. I've shared secrets, joys and sorrows.
The world would be darker without them.

VC, I just caught up on the whole Butterscotch story. I'm glad he's doing better. I know how much you love your animals and it must've been heartbreaking to see your baby so sick. Give him a big kitty smoosh for me.

Hope he makes it through the heatwave without complications, VC. Thinking about him...AND you. I know this has to be such a hard time for you.

I'm glad Butterscotch is doing so well, much, much better than last week!
Wed. morning early I have to sedate Dorian and take him back in. He has been eating all of his special food and seems to be okay but the weight is still falling off. I try not to think like an oncologist but I know what that could indicate in a human.
I can't imagine the stress you have had for so long with Butterscotch, I know that worrying about Dorian is really getting to me.
Purrayers for kitties!
