Uh. Yeah. Old music is way more in, and so are jam bands. Pot is the drug of choice, no one does shrooms. Pot is less intense.
There aren't any "clubs" in MB, but the ones dowtown play rap like all other clubs. | WOW... |
Why is that so weird? | do you guys get MTV? |
Uh. Yeah. But we happen to realize that there's better music out there than that shit.
Plus the hippy-pot thing is very in and has been for years and years.

Heartache, I agree- This is the most insane thing I have ever heard.
I get Widespread Panic and the Dead, but "no one would go see Lauren Hill" has got to be the most absurd thing I have ever heard. And I don't for one second think these Brookies have never shroomed moosh. What the hell kinda hippies are they anyway? And Zepplin? omg.

Ever heard the phrase "Walk the walk and not talk the talk"?
Pot is the drug of choice. I'm sure there are some REAL hippies in the bunch that go all out, but most people stick to the beer and the pot, the music, and that's it.
Natalee's crowd is probably more the Skynard, Clearwater, etc. crowd.
Of course everyone listens to maintstream music as well, but the old stuff is what's "in" and has been for years.
No one would be caught dead listening to techno. I didn't do clubs when I was in HS, but I've gone with my younger friend a couple of times and we saw some of her friends...in the rap clubs.
I didn't know who Lauryn Hill was until college, and my friend can't name a song of hers. She wouldn't be popular enough to spend a lot of money on a ticket to go see her, imo. Not for someone like Natalee, who I doubt would be flippant about how she spent her money, since she wouldn't have as much as some of her friends.

No, hun, I'm not. You aren't an MB highschool student. That's what they listened to when I was there, that's still what they listen to. The two band competitions usually include jam bands and emo bands every year, still. (I went to Ruby Tuesday this year).
A lot of them do. I don't usually waste my time on a Birmingham Club. I go to the ATL. But the few I frequent here are more into rap than techno.
Thank. God.

No, it doesn't, but that culture is fairly popular at the HS.
Though only the alternative kids are the ones who are going to talk the talk.

That is a band competition the Key Club puts on at MBHS every year. The other is called Brookstock by the way, so that should tell you something.
You could rap, but jam bands are popular, and lately the emo crap has been comin' in.

The kids who do what they want, don't give a flying fuck what anyone thinks.
Most teens do, whether they admit it or not. But there's the few that say fuck it and do whatever they please.

Hey, there is a quote from a guy that says that is exactly how Natalee was. He said she did her own thing and didn't care a bit what others thought! I bet she was at the Soul Beach Festival!

Sure, if she had some extra cash to blow and liked Lauren Hill. I just think it's unlikely. Not many people in MB even really know who she is, and it sounds like, per Beth, Natalee didn't spend a lot of her money.

WHy the hell would you LISTEN to techno? I can see going to a club and daning to it, but listening to it? Brain rot.
We all know how to dance...to rap, which is what is played at most college frat parties where there is a DJ and not a band.
Why the hell would you pick a college based on that?

This just rocks my world for a couple of reasons- one is obvious- I think she is one of the most popular, most sucessful, highly famous female singers out there- what planet does MB reside on? And two- did you go around taking a poll on this topic? How in the world would you know if "most of the people in MB" have heard of her or not?
From the picture you are painting- these kids prolly watch every episode of King Of the Hill, and she was a guest star!

Because she just isn't popular there. I don't have to take a poll, I went to school there, and from what I've been told, it hasn't changed. I really can't think of ever hearing her mentioned.
King of the Hill? Please. Family Guy.
