SATSUMA, Ala. (AP) - Police say two University of Alabama students on their way to the beach for the Labor Day holiday weekend were killed in an automobile crash on Interstate 65 near Mobile.
Satsuma Police Chief David Benefield said the accident happened shortly after 8 p.m. Friday when the vehicle carrying four girls left the road and overturned.
Witnesses said it appeared the driver overcompensated while trying to keep the 2002 Ford Explorer on the road.
The 18-year-old driver from Mountain Brook was found dead in the vehicle and a 22-year-old from Texas was pronounced dead at a hospital. The other two passengers were treated for scrapes and bruises. Identifies were not released.
