Compassion toward all sentient beings

The buddhist saying 'compassion toward all sentient beings' is simple and profound.

But when I see a spider or mosquito I'm a homicidal maniac. Where is the line drawn? I don't agree with fundamentalists who say man is superior to other beings, yet advocate killing the ones they don't like. Many animals experience pleasure and pain and deserve compassion. I don't like those peta activists who talk about animal rights yet treat people like crap.

Anyone have any thoughts? Very Happy

Well,if the damn anopheles didn't choose to bite & inject me with deadly malaria, I may not have such rage to kill them.
I quite like watching ants in their anthills bringing home food & building a hill, but if they invade my home they will be sprayed and killed. If PETA wishes to hold Human life & health equal to the life of insects ,& worms, who cause &carry disease I would ignore them
On the other hand dogs & cats or horses definately have established a bond with humans over centuries ,should not be used or abused, or suffer from greed for money! I have never seen a lil puppy like Mocha run so fast & elegantly. I would fight to the death to prevent dog racing & also dislike what is being administer to horses for the chance for them to win races.
I think each group has to be evaluated, but torture, fighting ,injections are definately out of bounds. We need kisses & hugs, not stings & bites. Laughing
Skipping along my own path.
