It could mean did you see her leave C&C's for the hotel. The thing is...he didn't ask if she saw her AT the hotel...he asked if they saw her GO back to the hotel. Two different things to me.

Right. It might not be what you would say...But it's not an admission that FEB saw NH at the HI...because it's not clear. Which THERE is she referring to? At C&C's leaving? Or back at the HI? A poorly worded set of questions followed by an oblique answer and then no follow up questions to clarify.

Oh come on, there's no way not to know what she was referring to. She was specifically asked about the hotel, not C&C. Her response was to that question and that question only. There was nothing poorly worded,
"did you see her back at the hotel", what's poorly worded about that?

There is no way in the world that she was referring to C&C. If that were the case she would have responded, "no but I saw her at C&C".

I'm sorry. I don't see this question in the interview:
"did you see her back at the hotel", (and you asked...what's poorly worded about that?)

If that were the question then I would agree with you. Where in the interview is that question?

The question I see is:
Interviewer: All the friends went back to the hotel. And did you all see her go back to the hotel or not?

Did you see her go back...is the action of going to...
It is not the same as...see her at...which would place her there.

So, to me, "there" could be any place from C&C's all the way to the HI and any point in between.

All I'm saying is that it is not a clear statement and it could be argued that FEB never said she saw NH at the HI. There's plenty of wiggle room in her answer and the interviewer didn't follow up on it.

Those are all excellent points. Atypical, I have argued the same thing, but I have to agree with prolific and WoW. 'There' cannot refer to a moving action "see her go back". And it is farfetched to make it refer to any place en route to the hotel.

FEB's line makes much more sense if we take it she adressed the word hotel.

FEB: I am just leaving it that we saw her there.

CnC's is not being discussed, so there is only one 'there' remaining, and that is the 'hotel', which is named twice. We must realise that at that point (4th of june) little was known about the nights events. Joran and the Kalpoes had said they dropped Natalee off at the HI. The two security guards were enprisoned. So for all FEB knew, Natalee did return to the hotel.

I agree. But then look at what she says: We saw her there, [at the hotel]. So then, the lie is they saw her back at the hotel.

Could it be Frances Ellen is feeling ashamed she didn't look out for Natalee? After all, they were the 'best of friends' according to that interview. She had just said she was with her that night. So the obvious question would be: why didn't she look out for her friend? It might be Frances Ellen thought of the bad impression she might make in front of millions of televion viewers if she admitted she didn't see Natalee go back to the hotel (which she admits in the interview with GvS at the 21th of june, when she states that if she had seen Natalee get into the car with a stranger she would have prevented it from happening).

Now Joe is cleverly using that to steer the finger of guilt pointing at his client into another direction. The witness, the keycards, FEB's statement. It all amounts to nothing, just like the video will not, but it sends the reporters in other directions than Joran.

If all this is true and when put together it most certainly amounts to much more than nothing. I wonder why many people are trying so hard to dismiss it.

I have heard reasonable opinions that assume that these bits of evidence amount to nothing because Joran was not cleared as a suspect. I would say that if there was absolute proof that Joran would not be a suspect at all. Other suspects had some weak alibis such as testimony from a relative.

On the other hand, what does Joe T have in Joran's defense that encourages him to mount such a vigorous campaign? Joe T is spending a lot of his own money on this case. A reasonable estimate of what he has spent so far would be over $100,000--travel, private investigators, legal work, television appearances. There must be something in Joran's favor that we haven't seen yet.

Actuallyy that's not true, Beth and Dave both claimed to have viewed the tape and Beth said it wasn't Natalee and Dave said he wasn't sure. So there definitely was a tape.

That was that there was a tape at 3 something in the morning with Natalee at the front desk. I am talking about the boys supposedly dropping her off at the front of the Holiday Inn. It was stated that the cameras were not working.

I'm not sure what this talk is about Holiday Inn cameras not working the night of May 29/30. The Twittys got Hotel staff to hand over security video tape so they could verify whether Joran had dropped Natalee off at the Hotel. They determined that had not happened.

We also hear that there is tape of Frances Ellen Byrd at the front desk, allegedly with Natalee, at 03:15 May 30.

So what's the deal with the cameras the Holiday Inn not working that night all of a sudden?

Beth recently said the cameras weren't working that's why they had to use the records of the key cards to see if Natalee used her key. Yet before everyone was screaming that Natalee never returned because she didn't show up on the tape.

Yes, and iirc, Beth said that she is the one who "pulled" these records.
