Joining me in studio is Tito Lacle. David Koch is very harsh in his words about this investigation, he's described it as "desperate"
Tito:
Is it desperate? It looks that way b/c they supposed to close it down next month. They're acting in despair, Karin has to leave, she wants to go out with a bang.
Her contract is up next February, but because of vacation she will leave in November. She has a 3 or 4 year contract that expires next February.
Greta:
She won't go out with a bang with no arrest
Tito:
They seem to think the arrests are desperation, people are being questioned and arrested like crazy, ... it looks to ppl like she's acting in a way that she has to come to closure in 2 or 3 weeks
Greta:
Is she looked upon by lawyers in Aruba there as competent? We see it from far away so it's hard to tell.
Tito:
They look at her as a person who wants to get ppl, even if it means doing the wrong thing, she has an agenda
Greta:
that's not a good criteria, that's a bad thing for a Prosecutor
Tito:
Ppl are afraid to talk , but ppl are co-oerating b/c they don't want to get arrested

Who makes the decision to arrest

The prosecutor makes the order and the police execute the order
Greta:
She's the architect of the investigation then, does she make statements to the media, give you information on the case
Tito
She was very vocal in the beginning, she called me in the beginning and gave me information....later she decided to shut up and give only written statements.
Greta:
She told us they're not allowed to talk
Tito
They're allowed to talk, controlled talking...but in written statements mostly.
Greta:
Why don't we know what happend to Natalee?
Tito;
In the beginning mistakes were made, they're afraid to make mistakes, then there's pressure from the media. The family has to get their closure, Beth calling for boycott didn't help, things just got nasty

He said it got too personal and it was getting in the way, his brother in law and then other things accusing his wife and then his son starts talking without his knowledge, it was the last straw. It's not new, he was a member of the case, first was van der Straaten, then Richardson, then Dompig, then November they said take it over, he said no...but Richardson was in Holland studying so he was doing a favour to Richardson by keeping it

It's going nowhere, a long time ago I indicated that this case has to be presented and considering Mrs. Janssen will be leaving in November, having this case not wrapped up is not a good thing

It's troubling if ppl are being rounded up for questioning and labelled as suspects, you hve a prosecutor anxious to resolve this but it seems like more than a search for the truth
David Koch:
Maybe in the beginning it was desperate but now it should come to a stop

How does she end the case, does she make a public pronouncement

Either give the suspects a letter indicating they are not suspects and unless within the statute of limitations evidence comes to light, the case is closed.

At the risk of getting you in hot water, what is she like?
David:
As a prosecutor? I think she goes after a case, she's very persistent, wants the score.
Greta:
She should want to close a case but as I've noted that's odd, she picks up a guy for 6 hours and suddenly he's a suspect.
David:
That's the system, not only here but all over Europe...they must be qualifed as a witness or suspect..

To me yes, it has been some time ago and with all these things happening it's a matter of time before the final position is taken

My clients are alright, all things considered they're doing ok,

No, maybe when it's very close she might communicate that, we don't have a hostile relationship but it's not like we confer with her

What kind of relationship does she have with the police?

Very good, the prosecutor is the head of the police, she has a good relationship with them.

You know what tonight on Greta reminded me of. You know on the doctor shows...when there is a crisis in the emregency room...and everyone pitches in and works and works and works to try and save the usually young and gorgeous ( male or female) patient. And then finally the old doctor comes in and tells them..."you've worked and worked and worked....it's over...it's time to call it..."who wants to call it" and then the music escalates...
