This is just a question. Could Joe sue Red of SM, since he's been on TV and his whole site is about slandering J2K and Aruba? He's not just a screen name. Question

I just watched Joe discuss it again. It does sound like he has a target picked out already and he was alluding to someone on the internet. He said it is to set an example.

Why do you think it would not be him? He seems like a great target.

I don`t know, what`s there to gain really for suing Red?

Were there other blogs just as bad?

What did he say exactly that made you think someone on the net?

BTW: I was banned from BFN after one post about some newsletter that I started getting for no reason. The admin started the thread and I said NOTHING out of line. BUT a few minutes ago I just got an email from BFN with a link to the forum and there's a message there saying they are being upgraded. Hmmmmmmm

Joe said he needs to set an example so he can get Joran's life back on track. That begins with stopping the slander. If all the online slanderers see their fearless leader is shot down, they may shut up too.

This is what Joe said (from Heli's transcript in this thread):

Quote:
Someone is getting sued, that's a fact, I'm not making idle threats or saying who but I've read transcripts, we've seen this case unfold, I've heard ppl call him murderer, predator, rapist, all sorts of things that are pure slander and libelous. This is going to be done to set an example. There could be a lot of brave souls who post things on internet blogs, that's very courageous when they're using aliases. I'm talking about ppl who go out and say this publicly, they're going to get sued.

I have to get this 18 year old kid's life back, ppl seem to be unwilling to let go of that notion despite the non evidence. I just heard the Holloways who are so fixated on Joran, And again, Joran never implicated the security guards at the HI that was the Kalpoes and Steve Croes.

Where Red differs from other bloggers who have slandered the van der Sloots, is that Red has appeared on radio and television and is more than an anonymous internet blogger who is known only by his screen name.

That may place him in a more vulnerable position in terms of being sued for his slanderous statements.

Establishing legal precedent is always a worthwhile reason for bringing suit. Obtaining punitive damages is another that serves to compensate Plaintiffs for financial damages suffered as a result of the slander.

Quote of the past eleven months.

"I don't know about this, it's tough, you can put some facts together and think you have a case. I agree with Pat, they're not going to sue Nat's family, somebody is going to get sued but it won't be Holloway.. We're going in circles, we are all listening to these ppl run their mouths like water...all these interviews, lawsuits, ppl lying with their shirts on and off..."

Well, I guess we'll have to take Joe at his word, but I wonder if he would sue on behalf of Joran. Does Joran really want all those pages of police interrogation and reports produced and made public and to be questioned on them?

I haven't seen them, obviously, but I can't help but think there would be stuff in them that he would prefer not see the light of day.

I'm not getting the impression from Joe Tacopina that he or his clients are fearful of anything. I think they would probably welcome the entire case in the spotlight that is how I am reading them.

things that would sound worse than --- on international t.v. broadcasts --- being called a rapist and a murderer?

would be better off going for the made for tv movie... the only persons that win in a lawsiut are generally the lawyers... and again... does Red have anything worth suing over? I think not...

Morning everyone .

Thanks heli .

"Mickey

Joe is not going to sue any member of the Holloway family. Everybody else, the same ppl that Condit sued, the Ramseys sued, the peripheral characters, buddies who go out there and say that ppl committed murder...I've got to believe Joe is not going against the Holloways. Ppl who have a loved one killed get a free pass "

Is that a joke what mickey is saying ? So, does this mean according to USA laws/media Beth could have taken a gun and shot Joran and just get a light sentenceor walk free cause she is emotionaly unbalanced?

Seems no one cares what Nadira had to say ,according to the weekend transcripts, beth did not even speak about Nadira interview . All of them got stuck on Anita interview and Joran .

so strange the th's and the holloway /twitty seems not to see Nadira concern or opinion as any importance .

Hi frrrp!

That post didn't make much sense to me. No one has a free pass. Regarding murder, state of mind comes into play only regarding the degree. As far as Beth's slander goes, I believe it was deliberate, premeditated, and done with knowledge of the wrongfulness of her actions. It was not done "in the heat of passion" because it has been repeated over and over, through the course of almost a year.

Yes. It is yet another of those stupid things that get said on tabloid television. There is no basis in law or in fact.

Hope you have a great day, frrp.
