More embarassing perhaps. Also if the defence is justification (i.e., that Joran lied so often (or perhaps even apparently admitted something) that the comments were not unreasonable...I don't know. I'd like to see a civil suit because a lot more information would be made public, but I'll tell you what would be worse than being called a rapist and a murderer, and that would be to sue for slander over that and losing.

I watch for slander and libel very closeley when I see the family members. For quite a while now at least, they always say "we think he knows something" or "he has the answer. I remember the Kaplpoe remarks calling them "criminals" but other than that, I have not seen them directly call J2K murderers or rapists. Of course we all KNOW they think this. We KNOW they intimate it. But early on, were they so careful with their words? Does anyone have an example? I am sure examples are out there.

It was just last week, I believe, that Beth still openly stated that Joran and the Kalpoes were to blame -- I was shocked that she was still so openly stating it as if it were fact.
Of course, I was also shocked that Dompig seemed to know exactly what occurred and that Joran and even Paulus were involved in the coverup of the body, after Natalee's accidental death.
So many people have played 'fast and loose' with the facts -- as no one knows what happened to Natalee and no one knows who is to blame.
