I haven't read where anyone is trying to make that case, have you?
(Although it is a well known fact that serial killers were often animal abusers in their youth......)
Double edged sword here: we have the dogfighting itself which does go hand-in-hand with other criminal activity; then we have the actual peripheral brutality toward the dogs (electrocution, hanging, etc.) which certainly in this particular case has been proven.
The possible connection to a murder doesn't surprise me one bit. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

The Vick Divide: An ESPN Town Hall
Will Michael Vick's star status have an impact on his prison sentence? The Michael Vick dogfighting saga may be winding down in the courtroom following Vick's guilty plea but the passion and intensity of those who have an opinion on the matter is not subsiding. In fact, it might be increasing as the sentencing date nears.
On Tuesday, Sept. 25, ESPN will convene a live Town Meeting in Atlanta to examine the repercussions of the story that shocked the city and the nation. With Vick facing a possible jail sentence for his role in an illegal dogfighting enterprise and the NFL season underway, "The Vick Divide -- An ESPN Town Meeting (6 p.m. ET, ESPN)" will focus on how Vick's situation has divided Atlanta -- in some cases along racial lines -- whether he was treated fairly, if his apology was sincere, and his chances of returning to the NFL.
The SportsCenter Special, hosted by Bob Ley with a panel of personalities and newsmakers, will originate from the Sydney Marcus Auditorium and feature live audience participation, as well as your comments. The show will address the involvement of athletes with dogfighting and the status of the investigation, as well as what lessons can be learned from Vick's situation, and how Atlanta can move past the issue.
Topics to be discussed on "The Vick Divide: An ESPN Town Hall" include . . .
How has Michael Vick been treated by the media?
How have the emotionally charged aspects of dogfighting influenced public opinion?
What role has race played in the prosecution of Vick?
What is the long-term impact for the NFL and did the league react appropriately?
Can Vick rehabilitate his image and reputation?
What does the future hold for Vick both on the field and off?
Below are several poll questions to help gauge your feelings on the issue. Cast your votes as the results will be featured during the show.

No way. Absolutely not. An animal abuser doesn't change, no more so than a pedophile. You can only "control" him, you cannot "cure" him.

Oh he's dead meat. 100%. He'll never ever pay pro football again. His life is over. He'll hit rock bottom in not too many years.
