I think it would be like a sarcastic (for lack of better word) meaning of friend.. In America.... sometimes when upset with someone they might say.."listen buddy...or Look pal".. whatever" and it doesnt mean the true sense of "buddy" "pal" at all... more like slang like "DUDE"....

This part would make a lot more sense if it was Deepak who made the statement I put in bold print (and Joran just looked at Deepak like he's totally speechless). . . . then Deepak says "Yes, that's true."

I realize that translation is difficult, but it comes across as a lot of broken english in parts...which makes it difficult to place what is being said in the proper context.
Still, what do I take away from this?
Not much. It's an argument where there are a lot of insults and accusations traded...but no details that would actually implicate someone.
Clearly, the cops were feeding info to the boys to get them to turn on each other, which they did. However, in turning on each other and in the heat of an argument, no actual details of a crime against Natalee was exposed. It seems that Joran thinks the Kalpoes know something about what happened to Natalee and the Kalpoes think Joran holds that information.
But, no actual information is revealed by either. What to make of this? Not much really. It suggests some interpretations, but it certainly isn't 100% proof of anything.
In my opinion.
